Sometimes, it's hard to believe how much the right tools can simplify your life. The Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids line of storage containers have definitely made a dent in our overloaded cabinets! Now, whenever we need to store leftovers, we reach up to the cabinet over the stove, choose a size and grab a lid off of the self-locking stack of lids.
Before we purchased this set, we had mismatched and ill-fitting lids for the piles of plastic containers in the cabinet. We kept the lids in an old ice bin as a way to contain the lids. But now, we have several nice, new sizes of square containers. Three of those use the exact same lid! And all of those lids lock together in a neat stack. It's very convenient!
I have used them in the freezer, microwave and refrigerator. The lids lock onto the containers very tightly, so I don't worry about leaks. Frozen things, like chicken stock, tend to slide out very easily after a minute or two defrosting on the counter.
The lids can also lock onto the bottom of the container, so the lid can stay with the container during service. However, I don't often use this feature, because it places the inside of the lid on the counter.
They clean up easily with the rest of the dishes. The only drawback is the same as many other plastic containers -- the lids retain water that is difficult to hand dry. It just takes a little longer for them to air dry.
As for the cabinet, I was able to clear out the old containers and fit more items in beside these new Easy Find Lids containers, which makes me very happy!
