Royal Caribbean - Monarch of the Seas Review Summary

The Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas gets mostly good reviews from Viewpoints members. The Monarch of the Seas got unusually high praise for it’s nightly entertainment “especially the comedians”. If you don’t like comedy the “singers and dancers are extraordinary.” Reviewers also like the panoramic views offered in the Viking Crown Lounge. What are the cons? If you’re claustrophobic you may not like the small rooms. Undecided? We’ve got plenty more Royal Caribbean Cruise Line reviews.

I have taken this cruise quite a few times.  The staff is great and the food is good.  You will never go hungry as there is always something to eat (24 hour pizza if you get hungry late night).

The sit down dinners are good.  The show is cheesy but fun.

For breakfast, I like to go to the restaurant...

I recently embarked on a 3-night cruise (Fri. - Mon.) on Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas out of Port Canaveral, FL. I had cruised Royal Caribbean before, so I was anticipating a wonderful time full of incredible service, delicious food and relaxation. The ship was to spend a full day in Naussau,...

So i took a 4 day Royal Carribean Cruise on Monarch of the Seas to the Bahamas recently.  Never having been on a cruise I was a little diappointed.  All my cruise goer friends told me how attended to I would be and how friendly the staff would be but...I did not feel that.

The cruise itself was smooth, no sea sickness here but things looked dated from the 80 throughout the ship.  The variety of food was smaller thank i expected and not as tastey as everyone raved.

The service at dinner was poor, at least at our table, at other tables it looked great, so we only attended formal dinner once...

Just got back from the Christmas cruise 2008. The water was so rough we couldn't stop at Cococay, not safe for the tenders to take us back and forth to the ship, so we went straight on to Nassau. Stayed docked for 2 nights in Nassau. Even though we had poor weather until the last day, our sail back, overall the trip was great. Plenty of food, quality was good, waiter at dinner was excellent, great sense of humor. Saw a magic show, the magician was fantastic. Casino was small and had no luck at all. We also went to Paradise Island to Atlantis. That was awesome also! My daughter's favorite passtime... review »

This is a relaxing and enjoyable cruise.  San Diego and Catalina offer many fun activities for all ages.  I'm not a big fan of Mexico, so I looked at Ensenada as a full day of rest and relaxation - really what the end of a vacation should be anyway.  If you love Mexico, Ensenada will not disappoint.  The ship is small enough that you don't need the entire cruise to master your way around the ship.  That leaves you much more time for enjoying activities with new friends onboard.  The dining experience is wonderful.  There is enough variety on the menu and at the buffet to please anyone. ... review »

Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas, as cruise ships go, is nothing remarkable.  It is one of the oldest ships sailing with the mainstream cruise lines in the U.S.  While  it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of the ships built in the last 10 years, she has a everything you could want in a 3-4 night cruise.  The staff is very friendly, the food is good, and the entertainment is spot on for this type of getaway.  The ship does the same run of 3 & 4 night Bahamas cruises year round.

For ~$250/pp (including all taxes and fees) you can enjoy a nice trip to the Bahamas including a day...

We went on this cruise for our honeymoon.  It was affordable and the staff made it so nice and fun!  I've never been on a cruise before, but I loved every minute of it!  There's a ton to do at the ports and tons to do on the boat!  I look forward to cruising again in the future!

One downfall was that on the excursions you can choose from, if you don't get your #1 choice for a port of call, they don't give you your #2 choice even though they ask you what your second choice would be.  That was a downer for us one of the days.  We also learned that on the Catalina Island stop, we would rather...

Monarch of the Seas - March 2007 - 5-day Baha cruise -ex LA

My wife and I love to cruise and have done so for over 20 years, travelling to every continent in the world. Having cruised with most of the cruise lines during that time on some of the smallest to largest ships in their respective fleets we perhaps have some insight into what we like and dislike and what is good and bad. Twenty years ago the cruise experience was somewhat different to what it has now become and catered historically for upper middle class and above passengers. The classic seperate "Class" ships having different dinning...

I just got back from a 4 day cruise on the Monarch of the Sea with my sister and two other girlfriends. We flew from Chicago to LA and cruised to Ensenada Mexico. Maybe it was the company I had or the fact that it was 80 degrees but we had a great time. The staff was wonderful, our room was small yet our cabin attendant helped to keep it very clean. The food was good, the wine was plentiful and the laughs seemed to go on forever. We chose to be put at a large table for dinner so we could meet other people. We had a great time with the 6 others they put us with. Unfortunately the casino wasn't as...

There is nothing better than an all inclusive trip! Of course cruises are not ALL inclusive, but meals, non alcoholic drinks, entertainment, and room are all inclusive. RC is a very nice ship for adults since they have certain areas that cater to adults only. The all adult pool area is fantastic for those who want to sit by the pool and read a book, without getting all wet from the "cannonball" kids! The food is outstanding throughout the ship, whether you are eating in the main dining room, one of their specialty restaurants, or just grabbing a bite to eat at one of the "bistros". The security... review »

We booked this cruise in California as a short getaway before visiting with friends.  Having cruised many times before, I had certain expectations.  Some of these were met and others were not.  The buffet restaurant near the pool had lots of stations and no direction.  I went to two or three stations only to find the same food at each one.

The ports on this trip (San Diego, Catalina Island & Ensenada) were very nice.  We are planning to visist San Diego again, we couldn't get enough.

For the price, this cruise wasn't bad.  I am willing to pay more though, to travel on our preferred cruise...

House keeping staff was not very attentive when we asked if they can spray some air freshner in the room, since it didn't smell very fresh when we arrived.  They said all they could do is bleach and sanitize the bathroom, but that would add even more fumes to the room.  When they came around for housekeeping, all they did was make the beds, and add new towels, didnt seem like they cleaned the toilet or anything.  The rooms are small, the pool towels were dirty.  It was so much better when I went on this cruise 3 years ago.  I think as it became more and more popular as a quick cheap weekend... review »

The cruise was alot of fun.  The food and service were great and the staff was extremely helpful.  I would definately recommend this cruise to anyone.  The shows at night were great, especaially the comedians.  There was alot of stuff to do to keep busy all day.  The boat was in great shape, but the rooms were small.

My cruise was pretty fun. There's a lot of stuff to do on board such as gambling, eating (a lot), and watching shows&going to art auctions etc.
The food part is the best. And it's really nice being out at sea and not seeing land&pollution. Sunset is really beautiful.

We recently returned from a five day/four night cruise to Nassau and RC's private island.  This ship was really wonderful with service, and I would highly recommend the jet ski excursion on their private island -educational, exhilarating and fun!
