I have a gas range and, after learning about induction, wanted to give induction a try. I'm still getting used to the controls, but one of the things which I immediately noticed was how difficult it was to get good control of the temperature. With my gas range, there are an infinite number of positions as the knob is turned. On an induction unit like this there are a finite number of temperature settings and if you are in between them, you have to make do with removing the pan periodically from the higher setting. I've recently gotten into doing hot pot though, and it is fantastic for that! I don't think that I'm ready to replace my gas range but I definitely think it's a fine way to try induction at a reasonable price. I plan on taking this to my next potluck to keep my reheat my dish and warm for people at the buffet line. Would recommend.
