My husband and I went to a function which gave out prizes. I won one of those roomba machines and even though I was skeptical about this little item's ability to clean, I gave it a try.

I have 2 cats, a dog and a parrot. I am forever cleaning up fur and feather mess so I was pleasently surprised when I placed my roomba on the floor and turned it on. I left for work and came home to a clean floor!

The unit is very light weight, about 5 pounds I believe. You have to charge the battery for about 7 hours, which I do over night. You have to make sure throw rugs and very tiny toys, like the size of a marble, have been picked up. Once charged and you are ready to go, place roomba on the floor, hit the green button then clean. The little unit makes a sound then begins by going in a circle which gets larger and larger and finally goes on it's merry way.

Don't worry about furniture being in the way, this little unit has a bump and go action that keeps it moving. The unit itself is only about 6 inches tall which means it can fit under lots of things.

The unit also comes with a barrier guard. What this unit does is stops the roomba from going into places you don't want it to. Or if you have stairs or like in my case, messy animals that leave pet food on the floor. The larger chunks tends to stop the machine. You can set these little barriers 8 inches to 8 plus feet.

To empty the holder simply pull off the front, dunp then slip it back on. It's quick, easy and does a wonderful job for me. I haven't had to take out my big vacuum since I got my roomba.

The unit I have works great on my hard wood floors as well as tile. But the larger unit works on carpet as well. The only difference between the deluxe model and the one I have is at the end of the day I have to go hunt down my roomba to plug it in. The larger unit will back itself into it's little charger automatically.

I like my roomba and am very pleased with the job it does. With my very busy schedule it takes away some of the mess and gives me a little more time for me.

Since my last post I have bought the larger unit. As I mentioned above, this unit will automatically return to it's base when the battery is low. I like this unit a heck of a lot better. Also I had to mention that the customer service with iRobot is about the best I have some across in a long time. I had a problem with the charger unit. I contacted the company via email and they responded within 24 hours. They asked questions then said they would ship a replacement charger, no charge to me, immediately. Know what? They did and I received my replacement within 4 business days. And I was told the company is coming out with a new floor scrubber. Can't wait for that!
