Here's the trick...find a mechanic who will have the 10 minute conversation about what your car needs, and the parts that will be required.  I have found a mechanic in my hometown that will let me drop ship the parts to his shop for his installation.  He is amazed at the prices that I am able to get (much cheaper than his costs) for the parts that he uses (brand names that he trusts too)!

After receiving the incorrect part for my vehicle (correct box label, incorrect part), I contacted RockAuto to expedite a replacement.

I explained that I had a now-disabled vehicle and wanted to have a part shipped as rapidly as possible. The first customer service person contacted was poorly informed about shipping possibilities and was asked to find out about overnight shipping. This person did not call back until 5 hours later. A second customer service person did provide some information and promised rapid shipment of a replacement part, but RockAuto did NOT come through. Due...

I placed my first order with RockAuto yesterday. My order was for a new fuel tank for my old minivan.  Within one hour of placing my order, I received a confirmation that it had been shipped.  I then found out that I needed one more part so I ordered it separately since the tank had already been shipped. RockAuto only charged $16.80 to ship the big fuel tank, which I find extremely reasonable and, to my amazement, it was delivered the very next day.  The second part I ordered was also delivered then. I have ordered multiple times from Rock Auto.  Their system is very easy to use and extremely efficient, but it is different from other online auto parts sites, so the unfamiliarity might be awkward for some users.

Once you understand their system (and resisty the urge to use the back button) it becomes very easy to find parts for your car, and also they have photos of the item, as well as multiple options from various manufacrutrers.

Their prices I have found to be about 25% less than local stores, the shipping is very reasonable, and extremely fast.  Since they ship from multiple warehouses...
