Robert's American Gourmet - Smart Puffs —

To the Point

I’ve tried many of Robert’s American Gourmet products. There are some that are better than others. I tried Smart Puffs recently and found they weren’t my favorite.

A Closer View

Smart Puffs come in a 4.5-ounce bag for about $2.99. The package tells us they are made with “real Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese.” They are oven baked and said to be all natural.

These are the healthy version of cheese curls but without the orange cheese color that comes off on your fingers.

They contain corn meal, rice or sunflower oil, aged cheddar cheese (milk, salt, cheese cultures, enzymes), whey; low fat buttermilk and salt.

One serving has 130 calories, 6 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 0 transfat, 150 grams of sodium; 17 grams of carbs; 2 grams of fiber and 1 gram of sugar. It would be great if there was no saturated fat and in general the ingredients aren’t quite as good as Tings by the same company which also makes Pirate’s Booty.

I found Smart Puffs to be too dry to say they were delicious. They had a cheesy flavor but tasted like they had too much air with no moisture. I won’t buy them again.

My kids LOVE veggie booty. I think it is pretty nasty but they think it is a great treat. :)
