My Rival Stoneware Slow Cooker was a wedding gift from a hungry father-in-law. It is six quarts and is perfect for the large meals I cook on the holidays. I wish it had come with a smaller cooker for dips and appetizers because the size really makes it inconvenient to use for these things unless your cooking for the football team. The cooking time matches the recipes I've used and the simple low, high, warm settings are all you need for a slow cooker. I love the stoneware base that can be removed from the cooker and used as a presentation dish or even put in the oven, though the lid has a plastic handle that is not oven safe. The cooker is large and does take up quite a bit of counter space but I much prefer making room for it than attempting to cook slow roast or slow cooking recipes in the over or on the stove. I feel much safer leaving my slow cooker running overnight or during the day while I'm out and about than I would doing the same with a range. I would probably skip some recipes especially because roasting pans and pots can be so troublesome to clean. The stoneware is always easy to clean, especially because it is removeable.
