Great for the price.

There isn't much better than homemade ice cream anytime you want! My great grandmother had an ice cream maker with a crank handle. I remember waiting for hours to get some of her homemade peach ice cream . Once we finally got it to keep turning ( it kept stopping, frozen on the ice) it only took about 30-40 minutes. The ice cream was soooo good!! Made this purchase on a whim and happy I did.

Just fine for the price

This ice cream maker is a cheaper model than some of the other rival ice cream makers on the market. If you only make ice cream a couple of times a year and like having 4 quarts, it is a great option. We have used several of the mixes from the recipe book and liked all of them. Performance It is loud and takes much longer than I expect it to. Isn't this the case with many ice cream makers? It performs just fine and gets desired results. Durability The motor has held up fine for 5+ years of use but we store it on the shelf in its original box. Ease of Use Very easy to use and it comes with an ice cream recipe book that has some great recipes. It always takes longer than expected so make sure you have plenty of time when preparing. Ease of Cleaning Cleans just fine. Motor is wipe clean (of course). Other parts will fit into a large dishwasher. Capacity It "only" has 4 quarts and that goes fast in a crowd. Figure out how much ice cream you want and figure that in to the equation. Design Fits into the container just fine.

Cheaper but nice !!!

This ice cream maker is not very expensive of the lot and thus I thought of buying it. It is small in size and can get fit in a small place in your kitchen. The ice cream maker comes with a recipe booklet in which there are many recipes of making ice creams in various flavors. I have tried quite a few of them and it is very easy to make. Though there are few concerns, the machine is pretty loud and annoying at times. While going thru the process one has to be very carefully follow the steps otherwise we would end without the best result one would expect. Cleaning the machine is the another pain point I feel. Since we use rock salt, ice, milk cream, fruit for flavor etc it becomes a little messy and cleaning it becomes difficult but then when you look at the price you have paid & the delicious home made ice cream you are having, its worth it and I do recommend it for home use purposes.

Rival 6 Quart Ice Cream Maker 8806

My husband loves ice cream. In fact, he used to eat it every night for a late night snack until he became a diabetic. He then switched over to "no sugar added" ice cream and could eat it every now and then. He bought the Rival 8806 Ice Cream Maker one night while we were shopping in Walmart. I told him he was nuts, but he HAD to have it. Performance We have had this ice cream maker for over a year now. It doesn't get a lot of use, but we do manage to use it about once a month. It doesn't take long at all for a batch of ice cream to freeze. In fact, you can have delicious homemade ice cream in under 20 minutes with this machine. Durability So far this ice cream maker is holding up good. The outside part is made of a heavy PVC material. No cracks or splits have occurred. Ease of Use This ice cream maker is very easy to use. The metal cylinder in the center holds your ingredients and sits inside the plastic round bucket. Ice and rock salt go in the bucket that surrounds the metal cylinder and the motor clips on over the cylinder to turn it to make the ice cream harden. It's very easy and only takes a few minutes to set up. Ease of Cleaning The Rival 8600 Ice Cream Maker is super easy to clean. After all the ice cream is scooped out of the metal cylinder, you will just need to wash with a mild soap and water and left to dry. The bucket needs emptying and rinsing before putting it all back together and into the box for storage. Capacity Six quarts of ice cream will give six huge servings or 12 normal servings of ice cream. This is the perfect size ice cream maker for a family with a couple of friends. We usually break ours out when some of the kids are home visiting. However, we have made ice cream with just my husband and I at home. We freeze all of the leftover ice cream to eat throughout the next couple of weeks. Design I think the Rival 8600 Ice Cream Maker is very well made. It is an electric ice cream maker that only requires about 30 minutes total to throw in ingredients, get the ice and rock salt in and ready to go!

Rival 6 Quart Ice Cream Maker 8806 Makes Tasty Treats!

On those hot summer days, nothing beats the heat quite like homemade ice cream. Use a **Rival 6 Quart Ice Cream Maker 8806 to make your treats. The motor turns the ice cream inside of the center canister. Ice and salt sit around the canister. It only takes 40 minutes to make the ice cream. Rival produces many different flavors of ice cream for people to make at home. The ice cream is, however, very loud. The motor is so loud that when I used mine, I put it in another room of the house and closed the door. The upside of the loud motor is that you can hear when it stops turning. The ice cream make is affordable and lasts several years, varying on frequency of use. It's also fairly easy to clean out. **

Easy to use!

I grew up making homemade ice cream. This year I bought an ice cream maker to continue the tradition with my family. It's so easy to use and it makes the ice cream really fast. We had fresh ice cream in less than an hour! The price was right too!

The Rival ice cream maker is an easy machine to operate.

The Rival 8806 ice cream maker is easy to operate and makes great ice cream.  It comes with a recipie booklet that has some delicious ideas.    The first time we tried this machine, we chose to make the mint chocolate chip, instead of chopping up chocolate, we tried using the mini chocolate chips and they worked great.  The next recipie we used was for strawberry ice cream using fresh strawberries, this wasn't so successful.  We didn't chop the berries small enough and they got caught on the paddle fins which made it difficult to get a thorough blending of ingredients during the process.  Didn't hurt the flavor in the end though, it was scrumptious.     The Rival does use ice and salt for the freezing process which gets a little cold on the hands and can be somewhat messy.  We transfer the ice from a bowl into the maker and we end up with water splashes everywhere.  The bag of salt lasted us through 5 different recipies of ice cream.     This is a good machine for the price, the only way to get a better one is to buy the higher priced electric ice cream makers.    I would recommend the Rival ice cream maker to anyone who enjoys the flavor of home made ice cream, it can't be beat!

The Rival is a good investment for excellent ice cream.

After I moved, I lost some pieces to my former ice cream maker.  It was a wedding gift, and I was bummed.  I decided to buy the Rival, a "cheapo" in my estimation.  I am every bit as happy with it as I was with my much more expensive model.  It seals very well, so you don't have to worry about getting salty ice cream.  It will freeze the ice cream in about a half hour, and you don't have to worry about your arm falling off from cranking it forever.  Set the ingredients, ice and salt it, plug that baby in, and you are good to go.  It makes great ice cream, and is totally worth the extra effort homemade ice cream takes.  Everyone raved about my ice cream at our family gathering.  If you are on the fence, considering whether to try it, I urge you not to buy the more expensive models.  I've owned both, and I am here to tell you that you will be equally as happy with the Rival ice cream maker.

I received this ice cream churn as a gift from a co worker.  I absolutley love it.  As a child my family always made homemade icecream using a churn similar to this but much more of an old style.  Now my family enjoys it just as much.  This ice cream churn does just as it is suppose to.  I love the fact that you can make such a large serving of icecream with this churn.  It is so easy to use...just mix up your ice cream, add ice and rock salt to the churn...plug it in and sit back and wait.  It does take some time for it to freeze but you are making ice cream...what does some people expect.  If you don't add a ton of milk to your mixture it freezes quicker.  This churn is very inexpensive which is an added plus.  It cleans up so easy.  I like that I can just stick everything except the motor of course in the dishwasher and it's ready for it's next use.  We take this everywhere with us, camping, vacation, picnics and all.  Love it!

Rival Ice Cream maker is so easy!

4

The Rival 6 Quart Ice Cream Maker is wonderful. I received it as a gift three years ago and use it multiple times each year. We even make ice cream in the winter! The ice cream maker is easy to use. It freezes 6 quarts of ice cream in less than an hour and all you have to do is continue to add ice and rock salt every now and then. I do not like the ice cream packets that are available to buy, but the recipes in the book that comes with the machine are wonderful. We have made the cookies and cream recipe many times. My ice cream maker did not come with a cork to plug the hole in the ice cream canister to allow it to go into the freezer to harden, but the canister is so large, I am not sure it would fit in my freezer anyway. I usually just pour it into a plastic container and put that in the freezer if the ice cream needs to harden. This machine is also very loud, but that doesn't bother me, so if you can stand the loudness, it is a great machine!
