Had this item back in 2010, but definitely not something that I would recommend or use again. In fact, I don't have this item anymore. The reason why is because this is a poor quality product and you truly get what you paid for. It's a flawed design because there are issues with the timer where it would automatically shut off during cooking. The plug itself appears to be loose and does not fit properly into the outlet. Cleaning wise is a bit difficult because there are built in filters that require cleaning after each use. Not built for heavy duty frying only for occasional use. At the price point, it is still worth it. It does not come with a basket to lower the fried food into the oil. Instead it is a plastic spoon and this increases the risk of splashing. The no basket is a deal breaker for me so I promptly sent this back for a return Performance The standard for fryers comes with a basket so that you can lower your food and then raise the basket once you are done. This comes with a spoon.

I love this fryer. I have never owned a fryer before but i love deep fried mushrooms and my husband was tired of finding a place that sells them so he bought me this from Walmart. Overall a great fryer. It heats up fast and the splatter lid is a blessing. It uses almost a whole small bottle of oil but the food turns out great. I've tried regular frying and also tempura, fries, donuts, and veggies. All came out better then any restaurant or froze. The biggest down side for me is that the container does not come out of the machine. Washing the inside is a pain but I now have a method of draining with a funnel into a container then using hot soapy water on the counter in another bowl. I just wish it was easier. I love the cord thought. If anything were to happen and it needed to be unplugged it would be very easy as the plug is polarized (magnetized) for easy separation. It also comes with a spoon which I use constantly. If you are a beginner fryer like I am I would recommend this fryer. If they make more modern fryers with the removable inside container I think that would be much better. Performance Works great every time. Food cooks in a good amount of time. Ease of Use Super easy to use. I'm a beginner to frying and I love this machine. Durability I've had it for a couple weeks and it seems fine. Ease of Cleaning Can not remove inside container.

The Rival Deep Fryer comes with a large size basket and has many temperature settings.  We use our fryer at least twice a week and more often when the grandchildren are here (gotta have their corndogs). This fryer is easy to clean and has a condenser tray in the back.  The plug is completely removable, which is a great feature when it comes to cleaning it. The variable temperatures allow for all sorts of frying.  At our age, we "need" our fried food at times! This fryer is a great asset for any kitchen.  It is more economical to fry at home than to go out to eat fried foods. Fries are better than McDonald's when cooked in this fryer.  Okra comes out crispy and just right.  Hashbrowns are crunchy, too.  Chicken fingers and chicken nuggets are one of the grandchildren's favorites and this fryer works great for that, too. Did I mention that clean up is a breeze?  I wipe it off with a dishtowel and walah!, it's clean and ready to use again.  The basket is dishwasher safe, so I just add it to the current load.

The Rival CF106-W Deep Fryer was given to us as a Christmas gift so on one side we really can't complain. However, after a while of use this fryer seemed to take longer and longer to get hot. We mainly use it to fry fries which should only take about 3 minutes. If we want crispy fries I have to leave them in for about ten minutes. Furthermore, cleaning this fryer is a pain. Since it does not have a removable resevoir, you have to be careful when you clean it not to get too much water in it. It's also very small compared to other deep fryers.

I bought this Rival deep fryer for my Mom for Christmas last year and it did not even make it until this Christmas. It burned out within 6 months and seems to be cheaply made. My Mom was very disappointed in it. I have other Rival products but this one was a bummer.

I have found the Rival Deep Fryer CF #106 to be a good value for the quality of the appliance. It is a mid-sized fryer that can handle about 2 serving sizes at a time without cooling the oil temperature too quickly. It brings the oil up to the correct temperature in a timely manner. There are excellent safety features such as a stable and non-skid stance on the counter and a magnetic break away cord. It easily comes apart for ease of cleaning. It's been a great new tool in my kitchen.
