Rival Crock-Pot 6 Quart Slow Cooker —

Rival 6 Quart Crock Pot Slow Cooker

My Rival Crock Pot really earns the title of the MVP of all of my kitchen appliances. I use it quite often and go out to play for the afternoon and still put out a hot, but never-overcooked meal on the table.

I use the slow cooker for chili, soups, desserts, roasts, chicken, tacos, shepard's pies and on and on.  With a slow cooker you never have to have the same old, same old.  This week it is Hawaiian Chicken, next week it is Curry Chicken and Cashews and the next it is good ole' BBQ Chicken.  The slow cooker does most of the work and I get all of the credit.

I see people write that a 1.5 quart is perfect for families of four.  Maybe so, but just for one meal. I want left overs and a bag to go in the freezer for next month too. If you're going to bother, I think the 6 quart is the way to go.

My Rival is not the "Smart Crock Pot,' which isn't to say of course that it is dumb.  The Smart Crock Pot has digital settings and a delayed timer.  To me that was just more parts to malfunction.  Mine has three simple options: off, low and high.  Since it is really hard to mess up a dinner on low, I didn't feel the need for a delayed timer but that is an option on other models if you feel you need one.

The Rival Crock Pot has a stainless steel base with electrical chord, a inner removal ceramic dish and lid.  The dish can go straight to the fridge or the potluck dinner. The dish is also dishwasher safe.

The only reason that I didn't give my Rival a five star rating is because the screws on one of the handles and the doesn't get hot lifting knob on the lid have both loosened a bit and jiggle slightly.  It doesn't take away from the functioning of the Rival Crock Pot or even the ease of use but I can see that eventually this could cause problems.  In fairness, I must say that mine gets used a lot.

My Viewpoint:  I love the 6 quart size for feeding large groups or having plenty of leftovers.  My Rival Crock Pot Slow Cooker is easy to use, easy to clean and lets me play and still have a homemade meal on the table for dinner.

I've got several crock pots and one is a Rival. I think most of mine are Huntington Beach. I never use mine; except to make barbecue and nacho deep. I love the crock pots with removable dishes.
