The Rival Cool Touch Deep Fryer is a great fryer for a small family! Performance Every time we have used this fryer it has worked perfectly! We have tried many things...crispy fries, wontons, breaded chicken strips and more...and they all turn out wonderful! I've seen some reviews state that the food turns out greasy, but I've found that as long as you don't overcrowd the oil, that isn't the case. You can fry a good sized amount of food in this smaller fryer, but it does have a limit. In order to cook the food properly, you need to be sure that each piece of food has enough oil around all of it's sides and that the oil is up to temp before you put the food in. Ease of Use It's so easy to use! You plug it in (making sure that the magnetic part attaches securely to the fryer) then set the temperature. You can't move the fryer around a lot or you risk the cord coming loose. When it is up to temp the ready light turns on. The unit comes with a plastic heat resistant spoon to lift the food out of the oil. This is one thing that would be nice if they improved upon. I'm not overly excited about putting a plastic spoon in my fry oil, but it does the job and seems to weather it well. I've had this unit for over 5 years with off and on use, and the spoon pretty much looks like the day that we got it, I guess I probably shouldn't complain. Durability Our deep fryer has done a great job in the time that we've owned it! Still looks and acts almost brand new. Ease of Cleaning I'm not entirely fond of cleaning this fryer, but I guess it is kind of messy work regardless of the type of fryer. After opening, the lid lifts straight up off of the fryer base. The insert does not remove, but there is a pour "spout" (really just an indention in the metal) for you to pour the oil out of the fryer. For some reason, in doing this we always end up with oil all over the fryer and sometimes on the counter. After cleaning, the lid pops right back on.

We recently lost our trusted FryBaby (that we had had for years). It was no longer available so we bought this model because it had the most similar inside space. So far, we're happy with our purchase. This model stays cool on the outside. It has a cover that saves you from burns from splatters. It has more control options that our previous unit, which we're slowly getting used to, but it's fun. Performance We've been very happy with the cooked results out of this unit. We like all the cook options. The inside is big enough but not too big that you're wasting so much oil. The lid stores on security and since we don't like throwing away used oil that could be reused again, we store our unit IN a cool place (or in the refrigerator if there's room), but always bring it back to room temperature before turning it on. Ease of Use The controls are simple. Easy to figure out. Easy to navigate. Durability It is mostly plastic, but so far it's holding up well. The plastic has a little give to it.

The Rival deep fryer is a great little machine! It gets the job done every time! I use it weekly to fry chicken, french fries, etc. It gives me just the amount of crispiness I need in my fried foods. It doesn't require that much oil and I can easily fit several pieces of chicken or even half a bag of fries in this machine at once. I then let it do its thing and come back to check on it several minutes later and my food is usually done. Of course, my husband likes his food very well done, so I have to let his cook for several minutes over the normal cooking time but it still comes out great! I have had this product for several months now and I enjoy cooking with it every time! I would highly recommend this produt!

We received a Rival Cool Touch Deep Fryer for our wedding.  At first, I wasn't convinced we really needed this item taking up space in our kitchen.  That was until I tasted chicken strips, mozzarella sticks and fries made in the fryer.  Man, what a difference the fryer makes!  Everything tastes so much better in the fryer than in the oven. It is easy to use and easy to clean.   Cooking foods in the fryer doesn't take long at all. It comes apart very easily and you can put the parts in the dish washer.  The cord comes out but is not retractable.  It's kind of a small cord so if you don't have plenty of counter space, that could be an issue.  The oil is easy to find at the store and you can re-use it so it lasts longer that I originally thought it would.  The only downfall is that with old oil, the fryer can start to smell a little like McDonalds in the kitchen, but that's easily remedied. I would highly recommend getting this fryer - one bite of a french fry or chicken strip will totally sell you on your purchase!

For years, I have been relegating myself to baking french fries and pan-frying chicken tenders. Then, last Christmas, I finally found the Rival CoolDaddy on sale and decided to purchase it. What a great buy! Since, then we have deep fried okra, chicken wings, fries, tater tots, and other things.  Yes, I keep complaining about the amount of fat we are consuming, but it tastes so good and is a lot cheaper than buying the same things at a restaurant. Oh, and the food tastes much better than restaurant food. One drawback I can think of is the amount of oil it takes to fry in it--a whole bottle of vegetable oil. Of course, this oil lasts for quite a while, unless you taint it with something (i.e.-your oil should be thrown and not used to fry chicken after you use it to fry okra--or yuck!). Deepfrying is a timesaver, for you can have french fries in 2-3 minutes. Yet, you should consume in moderation, because that fat can really add up!

This is a really easy to use product. The fryer is easy to clean with the removeable bowl so clean up is great. The handle has a place to let you know when its in place and lid closes with no problems. This is a great fryer for donuts,meats, or anything that can be fryer without the mess.

I love my rival deep fryer.   i like the fact that it can be taken apart and thoroughly cleaned.  the burner can come out also.  the container that u put the grease in is very easy to clean and so is the rest of the fryer.  It has a timer on it, but i have never used it.  I just cook.  the things we cook in there is chicken tenders, fries, fish, stuffed jalapeno peppers, etc.  our deep fryer is used at least 3-4 times a week.  its quick to heat up so i can make the kids fries and chicken for lunch or pop my husband some peppers in there.  i used to have a regular deep fryer, but found out that the outside of the fryer gets very hot, this one is cool to the touch and im not as concerned about kids getting close to it.  Im not sure if it comes in different colors or not, mine is black and stainless steel.  it matches the decor in my kitchen, so not only does it cook good,, it looks good too.  if this one was to break, i would def. buy the same one again.
