Very efficient

By

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Rival 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker:

MY Rival 7 Quart Oval Crock-Pot is a true help in my kitchen.  I can easily cook 2 single chickens or a small turkey and make enough Sweet & sour meatballs to please a crowd of 40.  The crock is oval shaped, large and not as easy to handle as my smaller Pots but the food capacity is a wonderful help in preparing meals ahead of time.  Now instead of cooking for 1 night at a time I can cook for 2 or 3 meals at once and freeze the rest for a quick meal later in the week.

It has 3 settings, low, high and warm.  I would have loved a timer on it but I was really looking at the price style and size when I bought it.  It was extremely reasonable in price and is a maroon red color which accents my kitchen perfectly.

When being invited out, I can cook up a huge crock of food and it travels with me!  It came with a carry case for ease of trasport and I was easily able to strap it into a seat-belt so it would not move around.  At Thanksgiving I was able to make an extra turkey breast which turned out juicy and golden brown.

I am extremely happy with my crock-Pot and recommend it highly to everyone whether you need to make several meals at one, use it for pot-lucks, or parties, or you just need to make a casserole for your family for dinner.

Use Rival 7 Qt Crock pot to fix a meal while you are gone

By

from Virginia Beach, VA

Comments about Rival 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker:

The Rival 7 Qt Crock pot is a family crock pot.  It is large enough to fix enough food for a family of six and even allow for left overs.  Since this crock pot is oval shaped as well, it will allow you to cook a roaster chicken in it, a nice thick and long roast (along with veggies), or even a small ham in it.

It has three settings: low, high and keep warm.  I do find that even on low, things cook quicker than my older crock pot and things can even boil at this level.  However, it still takes more time than cooking it on the stove.  I have found I can even cook the food for longer periods (like all day) on the Keep warm setting.

It is great to put things in and leave during the day and have your meal ready for you in the evening.  You can even put things in after lunch and have your meal ready for dinner that night.  I have found that I can even make really good desserts in my crock pot.  I just put all the stuff into the crock pot, select my temperature, put on the lid, and let it go.  It does all the work for me and I get all the praise.

Dinner ready when I'm home from work!

By

from Oak Park, CA

Comments about Rival 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker:

This slow-cooker is amazing. Having never owned one until recently, I had no idea just how amazing a crock-pot could be. The best thing about it is that it basically just does all the work for you-- you just load up your ingredients before you leave for work, and set it to slow cook, and then by the time you are home you have dinner ready to go!

The nicest thing about it is how well it actually cooks meat- my mom has started transitioning all of our traditional holiday dinners to the slow cooker because of how tender and juicy the meat turns out when it slow cooks all day.

Definitely recommended if you like to make pot roast, brisket, stews, soups, and chili. I know there are tons of recipe books out there specifically for slow-cookers, so I'm sure I'm only just cracking the surface of this brilliant machine.

Nice, roomy crockpot!

By

from Saint Louis, MO

Comments about Rival 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker:

My roommate has this crockpot, and I've used it a number of times. I've made stews, jams, fruit butters, and a pot roast in it. I think my only complaint would be that I wish the lid fit better, and I half-wish it had a slightly lower setting but I can understand why it doesn't.

Everything I've made in the crockpot has turned out beautifully, and if it didn't, it was due to human error, like leaving a stew in overnight when it really was done after a few hours. I think the best thing I made it in, which would not have been possible with a smaller crockpot, was a really nice pot roast. It was kind of fascinating to be able to dump in a whole huge piece of meat, a can of condensed soup, and a french onion soup packet, and come home to a tender, juicy, delicious pot roast that made its own gravy! I really don't use this thing as often as I should, but it's great to know it's there. If you're looking for a big crockpot, this is a good one.

Love this Crock Pot!

By

from Saint Marys, OH

Comments about Rival 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker:

I love the size and features of this crock pot!  We often entertain for our extended family and friends and use a crock pot frquently.  I like the convenience of preparing foods that can be done ahead of time and leave me free to greet and visit with friends.  The size of this crock pot allows me to do a dinner entree or appetizers for a crowd.  I also like the convenience of the handy dandy carrying case that came with the crock pot.  It holds the crock pot securely in place during transport times and does not allow for spillage, a definite plus.  The choice of temperature controls is also an attractive feature.  I especially like the keep warm setting for foods that will be sitting throuight an evening of entertaining.  My family members often borrow my crock pot for their own events.  Adding a couple of these as gifts under the tree has ensured that I will have mine at hand when I need it!

Ample Space To Cook For A Crowd

By

from Columbiana, OH

Comments about Rival 7-Quart Oval Manual Slow Cooker:

The Rival 7 Quart Slow Cooker is a super-sized crockpot that is perfect for feeding a large family or a big gathering. Having upgraded from the standard 4 quart slow cooker because of my growing family, I was finally able to fit large roasts and broiler chickens including delicious vegetables alongside them.

There are three dial settings for cooking: low, high, and warm. To me, warm seems comparable to what low was on the old crockpot. This slow cooker definitely does the job much more quickly than the old one. I'm able to throw the entire aforementioned roast or chicken in frozen solid and still have it cooked, tender, and ready to serve before the time it would take to cook a comparable meal in the old slow cooker on high! Perfect for me, since I don't often think ahead to thaw meat. This could be problematic for someone away all day and can't begin the meal later in the day or remove it earlier resulting in over-cooking.

The crock is removable for washing and is easy to clean, however spills inside aren't quite as easy to wash off. Unfortunately, it is also prone to breaking since it is removable, and I've had to replace it once already in the year or so that I've owned it. It was relatively inexpensive in the first place especially compared to some of the higher end slow cookers of this size. (Those didn't appeal to me not only because of the price but also because of the electronic controls which I imagine are prone to breaking malfunctioning as all things electronic seem to be far too quickly for their price.)
