Rival 6.5 Quart Slow Cooker w/ Little Dipper Review

My husband saw a Rival 6.5 quart crock-pot with Little Dipper to heat cheeses for dipping, etc.  BJ's had a $5 off coupon so he got it.  I was thrilled to have a new toy in the kitchen.  Rachel Ray uses them for roasts, so I bought a nice 3# one to try it out.

New Year's Day we wake to 2 feet of rozen snow, not prediicted, and it is 7 degrees outside.  SO I named it a CHILI DAY.  Got the Slow-Cooker out, put 3 cans of beans, 2 cans of tomatoes, all the spices & onions into it.  Then I browned the Ground Round (1.5 #) and added the meat to the chili mix & pushed the digital setting to HIGH so it would come to a boil & then I put it on medium to cook.  Smelled good as I was cleaning the bird cage & a large BOOM sounds & smoke is pouring into the living room from the kitchen.

All my cabinets, appliances, floor have pieces of the crock-pot container and chili all over.  The metal heating element has chili on it so it is smoking away, so it got a boot out in the snow.  Took me over 2 hours to de-chili my kitchen. Open windows to get the smoke out as our heat it going nuts with 7 degrees.

Off to BJs as I put all parts I picked up into the crockpot metal holder & took it to BJ's where the Manager was shocked since folks plug them in, fill them up & go to work with the cooker cooking.  They could come home to a home that burnt down.  SO she pulled the product from the shelves since we were the only people who bought one.  We were even given a gift card with the credit for purchase from her.

NO MORE SLOW-COOKERS IN MY HOME!
