This makes excellent smoothies, ice cream shakes, and is an all round great value!

I can only give the Rival 5-Speed Blender a 7 out of 10. It does good when trying to make a milkshake or something very simple, but other than that don't try to use it for more complex things. Blending Power It does good with very simple soft items such as icecream, milk, yogurt and things like this. Other than that, even making a smoothie can become a bit harder than needed since even strawberries have trouble betting blended properly at times. There is more than enough power, but I believe it it due to the small blending cutters at the bottom of the container. Versatility This blender is only good for putting items inside, and blending. No attachments, no extras or anything else. It is your basic blender and does a basic job. I can make milkshakes, smoothies and a few other drinks. Trying to use this blender when in the process of making soup did not work very well for me. Instead of smoothing out and making the cooked veggies a creamier paste, I got chunky liquid. Ease of Cleaning This blender is very easy to clean. You turn the top and it comes right off. The bottom part with the blades, twists right off as well. Making clean up of the whole thing, very simple and easy.

I bought this while looking for a cheap blender. I don't use my blender often, so I really saw no reason to splurge on an expensive one. I just wanted something that would make basic smoothies. This blender gets the job done. It's not the strongest or most efficient thing out there, but it works provided you're not asking too much of it. Blending Power It's pretty weak, but I keep this in mind while using it. It handles ice alright but sometimes leaves large unchopped chunks. This is sort of a pain but what can you expect? Versatility I use my blender just for simple jobs. I make smoothies and sometimes I use it to mix light batters (crepes, for instance). I don't use it for chopping or as a pseudo food processor. I don't think it could handle those jobs. Ease of Cleaning This blender comes apart pretty easily and cleanup isn't too bad. Ease of Use It's very easy to use, my one issue is that the bottom sometimes leaks while blending. I'm always careful to put the base on correctly but it just seems that the fit isn't the best. Durability I've had this blender for maybe about a year. I use it a few times weekly and so far it hasn't shown any signs of breaking down. However, as mentioned, I do only use it gently and do my best not to strain it with tough jobs.

This thing is awful! It's loud, it gets stuck on almost anything I put in it including fruit for a smoothie! It can handle about a handful at a time, otherwise everything on the bottom near the blade gets pulverized and then top ingredients stay how they were. When trying to push the top stuff down is when something would get stuck. Honestly, this thing is a piece of crap. Blending Power It can't blend anything unless its about a handful at a time and really, why bother. Gave it a 2 because you can get it to eventually do something. Versatility Not really good for anything, bought it to make smoothies and it had a hard time with fruit, forget adding ice! Ease of Cleaning Easy enough to pull apart and clean which is actually the best part about it. Not a problem cleaning it at all. Ease of Use Like I said, its awful unless you go painstakingly slow and who the heck wants to do that. The point of an appliance is to make your food prep easier. Design My guess is its all cheaply made and that's why it can't do what its intended to do. Durability I was waiting for it to break but then my fiance flipped out when trying to make dinner one night and went and bought a hand held multi-attachment appliance (mixer, blender) which worked far better for our smoothies and food prep. We still end up doing a lot of hand cutting as this has been put back in the box and in a closet. I think we keep it just in case but I have no idea why.

I have recently used this blender to make soup for my family and it works quickly. Unfortunately, it blends really loud, so it is hard to hear anybody else. I chopped up purple onions, red, yellow, and green bell peppers, and I place them in a bowl and I blend them in groups of four (because everything cannot fit inside of the blender). I then add water after pouring the ingredients into the blender. I then add tomato paste and fill the blender with a quarter full of water and then I press the button to start it. It easily works, and it does not stall. It spins around the ingredients really fast, almost like a tornado, and then soon the only thing that I can see are chunks in a frothy liquid environment within seconds. It takes less than thirty seconds for it to make the ingredients tiny and about two minutes for the items to become almost like liquid. It easily pours out, which makes me satisfied, but the only thing that I am not satisfied is about how loud the blender is. Ease of Cleaning I soak the inside of the blender holder with water and then I scrub it at the bottom. Don't submerge the whole thing in water because then it will not work. This has happened many times and my mother had to go buy the same blender three more times because of this.

The Rival 5 Speed Blender is a very light weight blender that doesn't take up much counter space.  The box says 5 speeds but there is really six because the off switch is a pulse switch. the container is plastic so it is non-breakable if it is dropped. The lid comes with a measuring cap and the blender container holds 48 oz. of fluid. It is very easy to disassemble when it comes time to clean it up. The mixer/cutting assembly is in only 2 pieces and very easy to clean except you need to watch for the sharp blades on the cutting assembly. This should not be left where children can get ahold of it and accidiently turn it on. The blender will chop, mix, grate, blend and liquefy. Pulse is an ideal setting for making cookie ,cracker, and bread crumbs and for smaller quantities or short blending cycles. But it specificly tells you what you can process in it such as mashing boiled potatoes, kneeding dough, whipping egg whites stiff, grinding meat.
