NASA astronaut Mike Mullane's autobiography, Riding Rockets, is a book that I purchased for my wannabe-astronaut boyfriend, and ended up reading myself. While Mullane is no Joyce or Hemingway, his writing voice is unique, and honest to who he really is: a good old boy with a dream. NASA buffs and casual readers alike will appreciate how Mullane seamlessly integrates the scientific and technological jargon of astronaut lingo with his compelling personal story. His personal connection with the Challenger disaster made me sad, but his rowdy sense of humor made me smile.
