Recently one of my good friends got this new gadget. The Reynold's Handi-vac. When I first saw it I thought, "whoa.. what is that?" He explained what it was. WHAT'S THE 411 ON THIS PRODUCT? —  This unit is a pure piece of junk!!!!!!!!! Do NOT buy it!! You're better off getting one of the newer Food Saver units!! This product is a complete waste of money now!!!!!!!!! —  But there is a definite design flaw in the design of this unit!! I bought this sealer as a small holiday gift for both my husband and  also my cousin.  My husband started to see the advertisments for the product and before he went and got one I had to  present it to him ahead of time!  It was an immediate joy the first time we used it.  It is so easy and so handy..it fits right in the counter drawer too!   We have a conventional sealer. but that is quickly becoming  old news in out innovative kitchen!   I never would have thought that such  a practical gift could also be such a… read full review »

I just purchased the Reynolds Handi-Vac Vacuum Sealer yesterday at Shaw's Supermarket. We actually own a very large and expensive vacuum sealer but it is so large that we keep it stored underneath the cabinets (not very practical when you consider how often I need to use it)...So since I had a coupon and the Handi-Vac was on sale for $8.99 and I have a $5 send in rebate I decided to try it. The Handi-Vac is perfect for my small kitchen and powerful enough to seal bags well for freezing. It runs on AA batteries, but the batteries last a long time, I've had this for about 5 months and have not had to replace the batteries yet.  I love that it fits right in the drawer with my silverware and measuring spoons and that there's no need to drag out a large sealer, cut the bags to size, etc. — I've found this works best when freezing items for less than 6 weeks though, the bags do seems to lose their seal after that amount of time.  —… read full review »

This is a product that i saw in a comerical and I thought it was too good to be true. But after I used it the first time and it worked I knew I would like it. It actually does work. The food in the bad after all the air is out makes it easier to put into the freezer to stack. How many times i put bags in the freezer and when I opened the door it fell out. Not with this product. I tried the Handi-Vac out tonight and I could not stop using it. I had fun sucking all the air out of my food before I froze it. It was easy to use. I am going to tell my whole family. So I bought this thing with the greatest expectations. Then the box came. There were more parts to it than a japanese car. I read all of the directions, but you know, it just aint as easy as it looks. I purchased one of these for my 85 year old grandma for Christmas.  She lives alone and still cooks on a daily basis.  She was always annoyed when she would have to throw away meat because of freezer burn.  I bought her one of these - and I had to admit - I was skeptical of how well they work.  But, she's had it for 4 months now and loves it.  She can't say enough about how great it is.  She says that she can put hamburger in the bag, seal it up, and a few weeks later when she unseals it, the hamburger looks the exact same as when she put it in there. … read full review »

I had been thinking about getting a food sealer when I saw an advertisement in a magazine for the Handi-Vac.  So I bought this and just love it!!  Whenever I buy a big bag of chicken from Sam's Club, I used to divide the meat into regular freezer bags.  Now I use this and it helps save the meat and space in the freezer.  I now divide up the ground beef into 1 lb. bags and repackage any other meat that I buy to prevent freezer burn.  I keep blocks of cheese between uses in the quart size bags.  I'm going to try to freeze some leftovers for lunch use.  … read full review »

I recently purchased this product with some reservations, but for the price you can't go wrong.  The bags are reusable, and the appliance fits neatly into you kitchen drawer. I have had good and bad results when using the vacuum. Sometimes it's hard to get the suction going on a particular bag, but if you keep trying you will get all the bags to seal. The bags are fairly inexpensive at Walmart so this makes it an even better value.
