Blackheads: 1 Extraction Tool: 0

2

I bought this thing after I watched some videos on YouTube that showed how well extraction tools were for getting rid of pesky blackheads. I was very hopeful that, Revlon, a brand I know, love, and am familiar with would make a product that worked as well as the brands I had not heard of that were being showcased in those YouTube videos. However, I was wrong so very wrong. This product did NOT work what so ever for my blackheads. I had minimal success with a zit, but that is about it. Those blackheads are still there. Effectiveness This thing was NOT effective for extracting black heads. I tried it on all my problem areas and had no blackheads that were successfully extracting, instead I was left with some pain and some redness. Ease of Application It is easy enough to use, it does not take much to learn how to use it. But the problem is that it does not work well so what is the point of it? Convenience It does not work so it has no convenience other than popping zits, and not extracting blackheads. Side Effects Is a waste of money a side effect? Immediacy I only got this thing to work on a zit, not a black head but a zit. So I am not sure that this even counts as anything. But it did extract all the yuck from the pimple so that's a plus I guess.

Ouch! Not What I Was Expecting

When I read about the Revlon Blackhead Removal Tool I was so excited. Unfortunately, after purchasing it, I was less than thrilled. The tool itself sounded like a great invention but upon attempting to use it I struggled and nearly poked an eye out! As far as the future, I will now be sticking with more trusted conventional approaches to eliminating blackheads myself at home or have them professionally extracted. I don't know if it was just me but these things seemed very intimidating to use and I had zero luck. I've learned my lesson and am just happy I didn't do permanent damage wrestling with this horror story contraption right in front of my magnifying mirror! Like I said, maybe it was just me, but I've cut my losses with the Blackhead Remover Extraction tool and would not recommend my worst enemy use these. Effectiveness Either I was using it incorrectly or the product was not effective whatsoever! Ease of Application These did not make sense and using them was painful! Convenience I suppose this product could be a convenient way to extract blackheads if it wasn't so frightening!

Neat little tool

I love my blackhead extractor. The only thing is DO NOT USE this for cystic acne!!! It will leave you with awful scars. If you only use it for black and white heads and small pimples, this is a great little gadget. Effectiveness This gets the gunk out of your face very well. Ease of Application It doesn't take very long at all to get the hang of which side of the tool you need to use to get specific types of black/white heads out, this is pretty easy to use. The only thing is for really "in there" pimples, you have to push down kind of hard and that irritates your face. Convenience Whenever I see a new black head pop up, I just get my handy remover tool and get it out, wash my face and move on with my day. Side Effects I'm giving this a 3 on side effects just because it always leaves an imprint on your face of the little loop part of the tool from where you pressed it into your face. The directions say not to push too hard, but lets face it, if you're determined to get rid of a pimple/black/white head on your face, you're already breaking the rules by popping it with or without this tool, so yeah, its easy to push "too hard" to get the gunk out of your face, which can leave your face red and down right nasty looking for about an hour. Immediacy As soon as you push down, the gunk is gone. Couldn't get rid of a zit much faster than that.

I love it, just be careful

I love having a blackhead extractor, and this one is affordable and readily available. It does a great job of cleaning all clogged pores, as well as removing severe blackheads. The only downside is that you have to be careful not to damage your skin. Pressing too hard or over-extracting can break your pores and capillaries. Effectiveness It WILL get everything out, just be gentle with your skin. Ease of Application It's straightforward to use, but it takes a bit of practice. It needs to be able to press against a surface, so for something non-rigid like your nose, you have to squish your nose to the side so you can press the tool down. Convenience It's always there, takes up little space, and is so easy to clean. Side Effects If you're not careful, you can permanently damage your skin. This warning is out there for every extractor. However, this one is user friendly enough that as long as you're gentle you shouldn't encounter any problems more serious than some pink splotches of sensitive skin. Immediacy Pores are cleaned immediately, but skin will be sensitive right after.

Not safe to do at home.

My recommendation for those of you who are so tempted to use this product is, leave it to the professionals. I know it is really satisfying to pop and remove black and white heads from our face all by ourselves, and this tool makes it really easy to do so, but it can be really damaging. I am speaking from experience here. I bought this Revlon blackhead remover on a whim when I saw it on the shelves and didn't even realize that a product like this existed. After getting home, I went to work on my nose right away, following directions exactly. My nose was pretty red but nothing big. Well the next day I woke up with huge, red bumps all over my nose that were so hideous and took days to clear up. I tried it a couple of more times on blackheads and every time, I woke up to a big bump wherever I had extracted that blackhead. So, no more at home blackhead removing for me, I will leave that to someone who knows what they are doing.

I must have changed the overall rating on this six times. On the one hand, it's a very effective tool much like the kind an actual dermatologist will use. On the other hand, if you don't know what you're doing, it takes some getting used to and is hard to do on yourself. Okay, I fancy myself an amateur dermatologist (as my family likes to say). They think it's gross I'm so obsessed with facial blemishes and other skin "things". This isn't a tool I really needed to buy because I'm good at squeezing pimples and removing blackheads with just my fingers. I remove both our teen daughters, my husband and the ones from my dad's back. He's 80-years old and obsessed with keeping his back clear. I am only too happy to oblige. You see now why my family thinks I'm loco. If I was younger, I'd change careers and become a dermatologist. Anyways, I found this little tool easy to use. There's a knack to it. You have to make sure the blemish is inside the circular ring, gently push down then drag a little. Sounds weird, but it's really not. You also have to do it several times, until there is nothing coming out anymore. If you don't put enough pressure on it, then all of that stuff won't come out, and if you don't get it all out, it will either come back or get infected. All in all, I'd say only buy this if you have trouble using your own fingers. Also, it does not really work on its namesake, meaning, not on little black heads. It's more for the bigger ones.

Revlon Stainless Steel Blackhead Extraction Tool Do Not Use!

Revlon Stainless Steel Blackhead Extraction Tool, does this even sound like a good idea? But in my desperation and deranged hopes to get rid of the black specks littering my face I bought this horrid device! Well let's see where to begin, this horrid little piece of tempered stainless steel broke veins my nose! Also Revlon Stainless Steel Blackhead Extraction Tool leaves large pock marks in your face! I keep my face very clean and would wash and use astringent immediately after mutilating my face with this horrid tool, in hopes of closing the pore and solving the problem! This did not work as planned I could give some advice on a better method for removing blackheads but this tool is not it! Please if you care about your skin stay away from Revlon Stainless Steel Blackhead Extraction Tool! Effectiveness Yes it will remove the blackhead while breaking veins in your face and scaring your skin! Ease of Application It can be very painful especially around the crevices of your nose! Side Effects The side effects are horrendous! Broken veins in your face scaring pock marks, large gaping pores! Immediacy It hooks blackheads right out but at a horrible cost to your skin!

Uncomfortable to Use and Inconsistent

I have acne prone skin and tend to get a lot of blackheads around my nose. I have tried a lot of different products to try and remove the blackheads with no luck. I saw the Revlon Stainless Steel Blackhead Remover Extraction Tool advertised online one day and decided to pick one up. I have had mixed results using the tool to extract my blackheads. Using the tool I was able to remove some of the blackheads on my face very easily. However, the tool could not remove some of the more stubborn blackheads around my nose no matter how much pressure I applied to the tool. The blackhead remover tool was uncomfortable to use and difficult and awkward to use. At times it actually hurt when try to extract the blackhead with this tool. I also did not like that I could see the indentation of the tool on my face for up to 20 minutes after trying to remove a blackhead. I noticed that steaming my face or placing a warm washcloth over my skin beforehand made it easier to remove some blackheads with this tool. One of the major reasons I stopped using this product was that I started to notice that I would get pimples around the area that I used the tool. Overall, I like the concept of this product and was really disappointed that it did not live up to my expectations. I would not recommend it.

An awesome tool that removes blackheads

I have so many blackheads and whiteheads on my nose and sometimes on my cheeks. I wear a lot of makeup on my face so I get a lot of them from time to time. Its hard using a scrub or removing them with my fingers just causes more to come because of the oils from my fingers. I love this Revlon blackhead remover extraction tool, it gets out a lot of the clogged up pores and blackheads especially those stubborn ones that dont come out this tool gets them out. All I do is push it down with the tool on any of the blackheads or whiteheads and they sprout out of my nose. It does hurt a little bit when you press on it with the tool but it gets most of them out. The tool is unique looking its a little circle loop shape and the blackheads go through there. I've noticed my nose and cheeks have looked a lot better. They decreased in just a few times that I've used it. I'll be in the mirror for hours just taking them out with it. They don't come back a lot but when they do I'm always ready for them with this extraction tool.

Nice concept, but doesn't work

2

I bought the Revlon Stainless Steel Blackhead Remover Extraction Tool several years ago when I had a major acne problem. I loved the idea of the tool because, though we know we technically shouldn't, all of us are guilty of picking at pimples and blackheads. Complications can arise when bacteria from fingers/fingernails introduce new infection into the pimple lesion, making the healing process take longer and risking worse abscess. Using this easy-to-sterilize stainless steel tool would make potential infections less of an issue. Also, trying to remove my own blackheads was often painful. This blackhead removal tool consists of a small metal circle on one end and a larger one on the other. They have rounded edges which make it easy to apply equal pressure all around the blackhead at the same time without discomfort. Unfortunately, the tool doesn't work. Of the many blackheads I tried removing with the tool, only one popped out.
