When Revlon first released their MAKE A SHEEN line of makeup, I was impressed by the picturesque lay out of the three colors of shadow in the square container. I was NOT impressed by the hefty price tag.

When I got a 20% off coupon from ULTA, I was able to get a decent discount on a set of Revlon MAKE A SHEEN EYESHADOW in OLIVE IT UP colors.

WHAT IS THIS EYESHADOW LIKE?

The colors that come in this set are metallic gold/bronze/olive, metallic gold and metallic bronze/brown. The way it is set up is that the shadow is pressed in freestyle curvy arcs which curve toward the left.

The middle color, which is gold, is about 1/3 of the amount as compared to the other two colors.

HOW DOES THIS PERFORM?

I have to say that I am impressed with this eyeshadow. The bronze and olive colors have decent pigmentation which is semi-sheer, but easily buildable. The gold, however, I am not as impressed with. The gold is chunky and does not stay put very well.

Olive It Up can be used dry- I suggest a good base- or with a damp brush, which will give this a more intense look that rivals many high end products that you pay twice as much for.

I have not experienced any sensitivities to it yet either- another good factor.

MY COMMENTS

This shadow has excellent quality pigmentation and texture. I love the intense metallic look to it, and the colors are beautiful. Very appropriate for a large number of women. Although the colors look warm, they also work for cooler palettes with a tan. Excellent with green or hazel eyes.

I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a base under these and they last all day long. The only way to get the gold to go on well is to use it with a damp brush.

I have a lot of professional level cosmetics and I have to say that these colors are unique enough to warrant having this palette.

WHERE TO GET?

You can get these wherever they sell Revlon cosmetics. They say on their site that it is limited edition only, but I have seen permanent positions on many displays for them. I am not sure what is going on.

These are a bit expensive (our local store had them for $8.99 ) but if you can get them on a discount, they are worth trying.

This is the only color I have tried so far- and please keep in mind EVERY line of shadow has different performance based upon pigment. Pigments all react differently and wear different within every line of eyeshadow, so each color palette will have different performance.

I have seen these at CVS, Kmart, Rite Aid, and quite a few other places. Whether or not they will be permanent Revlon eyeshadows remains to be seen.

I have rated this eyeshadow 4 STARS because of the gold color quality in the center not being as good as it should be.
