I was quickly running out of my Bare Minerals, and enjoying the idiosyncracies of postpartum skin. So, I'm not comfortable going out without something on my face for that extra polish. CVS was offering a buy-one-get-one-free promotion on all Revlon cosmetics, so I decided to take a chance on the Colorstay Mineral Foundation.
It turned out to be a fantastic decision, one that I will make again when I run out of my current supply. The application is a little bit different than Bare Minerals, in that the brush is housed in the lid. The jar contains a sifter plate. So, all you need to do is extend the brush, swirl and tap it into the sifter, and buff it onto your skin. I find that the coverage is equal to what I got with Bare Minerals; the texture is also similar in its softness.
There are some differences between Revlon Colorstay Mineral Foundation and Bare Minerals. While the coverage is quite good, I do find that it goes on just a little bit more "powdery" around my eyes. It does not settle into fine lines, but it does require more blending than Bare Minerals. While the lid-enclosed brushes make this a superior product for travel, the brushes are not the best quality. I use my higher-quality brushes with this product when I'm at home.
Finally, this cannot boast the purity of Bare Minerals. It isn't true mineral makeup, as the list of ingredients is a bit longer. This is a good product to keep in your desk drawer at work for touch-ups, especially for the price you pay. Take advantage of coupon and BOGO promotions at places like CVS and Walgreens, and save even more on this product.
