Revlon ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex for Normal/Dry Skin —

I was looking a new foundation, and after reading rave reviews about this product, I caved and tried it. Firstly, let me mention the price. If you're thinking about not buy Revlon Colorstay Foundation because you've heard that it is pricey don't move on to the next foundation just yet, you can easily find deals at drugstores, coupons, and store specials. From time to time I have seen this foundation for $8, and have also seen it marked at $12. If there is going to be an upcoming deal, wait around for it. It's well worth it.

There are a lot of colors to choose from, which can be tricky if you're not sure exactly what your skin color is. I stumbled across a guide that roughly matches MAC foundation colors with Colorstay foundation colors. Although I have not used MAC foundation, I found this guide to be helpful. Depending on the brand, I have worn all the colors between Ivory and Beige. I went with the color Sand Beige, which has neutral undertones.

The foundation is easy to apply. If you have zero experience applying foundation, I'd recommend that you not apply this foundation when you are in a rush. I have had great success applying it with the MAC 187. My biggest pet peeve about Revlon Colorstay Foundation is the fact that it does not come with a pump. For the past two weeks that I have been using this product I am still having trouble determining the correct amount to pour. This can easily be fixed by a quick visit to the Drugstore and picking up an empty bottle and pump and transferring the foundation to it. This foundation will stain things, so don't pour it onto your favorite compact to use. This may also stain your brushes, just a heads up. It blends very well and I have not had any blending issues thus far. The best method for applying this foundation is to dip a brush into it and blend and blend (I like to use circular motions) and re-dipping your brush.

This works well for combination skin, and could also work well for those who have dry areas on their face. I highly recommend that you moisturize before applying the foundation. I have acne prone skin and also have some minor freckles and discoloration. I was unhappy with the way other foundations were covering my skin; by the end of the day my face would be shiny and greasy. I do not have that problem with this foundation. I wash my face in the morning, moisturize, and apply this foundation and my concealor (there is no need to set the foundation or apply a loose powder) and I am good to go for the day. When I wash my face at night it is just as fresh as it was in the morning. This foundation holds up well in humid weather, and has enough staying power to smoothly transfer from day to night.
