Rescue Me — 

After watching about three seasons of Rescue Me commercials, I finally decided to watch an actual episode.  To my delight and dismay, it was one of the best shows I had ever seen and tragically, it was the season finale. 

The season finale was so good I went straight to Blockbuster online and rented all three seasons so I could catch up in time to watch season 4 when it aired live on TV the next season.

The reason why Rescue Me is one of the best shows I have ever seen is because for one, the characters are perfect.  They are realistic people handling realistic problems in life.  They are firefighters in New York City that endure traumatic, sad, and funny perils both on the job and at home in their personal lives.  Their language is profane, their sense of humor is caustic and their jokes are dirty.  The show is definitely not for everyone.  I don't know what I will do if/and or when it goes off the air.

That review was actually one of the first reviews I wrote on this site, so it probably isn't up to par :) Season 5 is good so far, but not as good as seaons 2 or 3. I liked it better when the old chief was in the picture (his last episode was a SHOCKER!) I liked it better when there was the complexity of Janet and what's her name, and I also really liked his brother who got shot and died. In fact, the first episode I ever watched happened to be the season finale when Janet is in bed with someone and the camera slowly scrolls up from the bottom of the bed to the top to reveal who she is in bed with (Tommy's brother). What a great episode! It was that episode that got me hooked!

I love Rescue Me. I agree it is not a show for everybody. My brother is a firefighter, so I am always drawn to shows and movies about firefighters.
