Advantage Rental Cars
We had a lot of travelers and luggage so we got a minivan..the person at the desk didn't know how to type and took a half hour to type in our info. Then handed us keys and sent us into the pitch black parking lot to find our own car. The first van was filthy all over inside and out and had dents, scratches, and it looked like someone spilled crap all over the carpet. We demanded a new one. I have completed 5 car rentals from HERTZ in the past year. Only once did I receive the car reserved. The other times, the car reserved was "not available". In each case I was given a smaller/cheaper car for the reserved price. In each case the car was filthy. I had to clean the windows, as visibility was non-existent. The cheap cloth seats were covered in dog hair, and in one case, a used condom was above the visor!
Think AVIS is any better! No way same experience with them too!
Avis
I was invloved in an auto accident with a person who was driving an Avis rental car. It has been over 3 weeks and I have had no rersponse from Avis. I clearly am the victim of Avis's poor customer service and obviously overworked claims department.
I have been assigned a claim number, adjusters name and phone numbers, yet after several attempts to reach this person and her supervisor by phone, alll I get is an answering machine and NO ONE respnses. I then faxed an accident report showing their client was clearly at fault, along with the estimate for damages and still absolutely no response....

I suggest that no military or disabled veterans, like me, ever rent from dollar. Don't get ripped off like I did! The Management does not respect us nor do they want to talk to us. They say one thing and do something else. BAD BAD company. Use anyone but dollar. Check the fine print really well and do not believe what they say at the counter, they have no clue what they are talking about.
National Car Rental
On October 30th, 2009 I rented a compact vehicle from National and Returned it Tuesday the 3rd of November. On my way to the San Diego, CA drop off location I got lost and was in a hurry to catch my flight to new york.
Upon dropping off the car I forgot to grab my Garmin NUVI navigational system because I was in such a hurry. I realized I didn't have it with me upon boarding the flight to new york. I booked a Full size car and had a double upgrade coupon so was basically planning to get a Minivan but after calling the rental location was informed that there are no minivan's to rent. So far so good. The customer service asked me to goto the nearest airport location and pickup the van ( she politely mentioned they will add additional airport tax ). My husband's company rented this car for us, three months ago. When we went there to pick up the car, we just sign the contract as we taught that it's all about the agreement between them and the cowpony. they also took our credit card and said they just need it as a deposit. but after three months we understand that they charged our credit card 750 $ per months for the insurance that we didn't need at all. and it costs us 2250 $ for 3 months. we went there and they said you signed the contract and we couldn't do any thing.
now we should pay 2250$ for nothing, what do you think about...

While picking up a rental car from Avis in Madrid, Spain; the agent said that the reason that minor scuffs on bumpers were not marked on the paper work, was that every car in their fleet had scuffed bumpers and that "damage" would only pertain to a cracked mirror or lens or a significant dent.
