My husband & I just returned from a Baltic Sea cruise with Regent Seven Seas that included Scandinavia & Russia. This is our fifth cruise with Regent that was originally known as Radisson. Some might say they are too expensive but all tipping is included plus any alcohol or nonalcoholic beverages which can really add up on those other cruises. The small size of their ships keeps us from waiting in long lines getting on and off the ship and the land excursions are smaller groups. Also the food is five star dining every night and I like the fact that you can get healthier options on the menu items.
For anyone wanting to visit Russia but feel completely protected and safe, this is the way to go. The beginning and ending ports were Stockholm and Copenhagen which were both very beautiful and we stayed two nights in each of those ports. The Absolut Ice Bar is not to be missed - they have one in Stockholm and Copenhagen. They were very expensive cities but bargains could be found. We were docked three nights in St. Petersburg with the option to fly to Moscow for one of the days which we did. All of us that took that option were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful it was visiting the Kremlin and Red Square. I expected it to be depressing and dreary in Russia but it was absolutely wonderful and I would like to recommend this trip to everyone considering this destination.
