Reebok Neoprene Dipped Dumbells - All Weights —

To the Point

My daughter has 8-pound Reebok Neoprene Dipped dumbells. I took the opportunity to show her some exercises to do at home.

A Closer Look

One question I am asked is if dumbbells are better than machines of a bar. My answer is they are different and I recommend using all types of exercise equipment. The benefit of dumbells however is that it is hard to cheat. Another major reason to use dumbbells over a barbell is the fact each arm has to do the work. For example, if I am doing bicep curls with a barbell both my hands are holding this bar. If my left arm is weaker then my right hand, my right hand will take over so my left arm is getting a lesser workout. If I put a dumbell in each hand this isn’t possible. My left arm is on its own.

These come in blue although you will find similar or the same by Reebok in other colors. I like the fact they are covered with neoprene, which is a synthetic rubber. This covering has a couple of advantages.

  1. I don’t have to wear gloves while using them which I do with metal dumbells.
  2. My hands don’t slip when they get sweaty like they do using dumbells that are covered with PVC (plastic).
  3. The make virtually no noise when put on the floor unlike metal dumbells.
  4. Unlike many dumbells that have round ends these are squared off so they don't roll on the floor.

She got a workout program with them which I went over with her.

You'll pay about $1.00 a pound on sale. You'll pay closer to $2.00 a pound normally.
