Many years ago I began to color my hair because I wanted to see how I liked myself with a color other than what I was born with. Now I continue to do the same, however for the purpose of covering all my grey! For the last year I have been using Redken's color extend shampoo and have enjoyed how it extends the time between colorings. Now I can wait until my roots have grown out enough to be covered instead of having to color more frequently to keep all of the surface grey covered. It contains UVA & UVB filters for protection against processed color fading, cranberry oil to increase processed color vibrancy, ceramide for strengthening the hair itself, and a fade resistance complex to keep the processed color in the hair shaft. It does not contain a lot of fillers so I can use a small amount each time I shampoo, and it seems to be gentle (I have not noticed any split ends or other damage since I began using, however I also use the Redken color extend conditioner and maybe it has more to do with that than the shampooing). I like the scent and my hair is very manageable, easy to style and shiny without having to use a shine product, though if I go longer between shampoos I will use the Redken color extend shine enrich for a shine touch up.
