We've stayed at this Red Roof twice before we returned over the recent holidays. The hotel is going downhill in a hurry.
The first thing I saw while sitting in the car waiting for my husband to check us in was a car pull up with two men in it; one so very obviously a drug addict and needed to be on the show "Intervention". I don't say that lightly; this man had a serious drug problem that was evident just by looking at him. As he got out of the car, another car pulled up with a man and woman in it. I happen to know the young lady personally, and she is bad news. These two obviously knew each other, and both got out of the car with shopping bags and went inside. I shudder to think what they were doing at the hotel, as they were both from the immediate area as evidenced by what I know of the young woman and their car tags.
The room smelled musty, and there was black mold growing under the bathroom sink. The towels were thin. On the second morning there we ran out of toilet tissue, and there was not a backup roll in the room. I walked to the front desk and asked for another roll; they had none in their usual stash beneath the counter and had to find someone with a key to housekeeping before they could bring another roll to our room.
We had our small dog with us. One morning as we were walking her (on her leash) towards the lobby, I rounded the corner ahead of her and my husband and saw a HUGE bulldog on a leash held by a man. As soon as that dog saw our pet, it lunged, and the man had trouble getting his dog back in control. I was terrified. I thought there was a limit to the size of dogs guests could have, but obviously not.
We have family in the Macon area and travel there at least once a year. We will definitely be finding other accommodations the next time we are there.
