This is the beer that made me love hops

Pros

Clean and Clear, Not too Bitter

Clear, copper body, with a thin, off-white head. Cobweb-like lacing.

The aroma was all right, but I wish it was a bit more pronounced. Inviting balance of malts and hops.

The flavor confuses me, as I don't think it's quite correct for the style. If the malt played a slightly larger role, or the hops took just one step back, then I think this would be a much better ESB. Yes, the balance gets a little better as the beer warms, but I don't like having to wait for that.
The mouthfeel is very nice, however. The weight is good, and the carbonation is just right.

Overall, I don't mind this beer, but I was hoping the malts and hops would have been more balanced. The flavor of all Red Hook beers has changed over the last few years.  They are getting just a little lighter in flavor.

<<The flavor of all Red Hook beers has changed over the last few years. They are getting just a little lighter in flavor>> That, my friend, is the Anheuser-Busch influence on the once-proud Redhook beers.
