After not crocheting anything for a few years, the crochet bugg bit me a few weeks ago and I cannot stop crocheting!  I read an article in the paper about a guy who collects lap blankets for injured veterans and haven't been able to stop crocheting them since.

I have a few favorite yarns but the one...

Red Heart Yarns are very economical. They come in large no dye-lot skeins. The yarns are easy to find, as many big-box retailers sell them. They will not be found at most "yarn shops" because the so-called yarn snobs do not like them (in general).  I like to use Red Heart Yarns for baby afghans, other... read full review »

I do a lot of knitting an crocheting for nursing homes and overseas missions.  I actually prefer to use Red Heart Yarns over any other, because of the consistency of quality, durability, and it's washable qualities.  Red Heart has consistently out performed other yarns.  They are upto date in their colors, always staying with the palette trends.

If you were to check out my huge compilation of yarns, the most common brand you would find is Red Heart. Red Heart Super Saver yarn is very durable, and great for almost any project. It is machine washable and dryable, which also adds to its greatness for many knitters and crafters, myself included. If someone spills on my project, I know I can just throw it in the wash and it will be fine, saving me the worry over if I will be able to save it or if I need to trash it.

The Super Saver skeins are great, especially when doing a large project. These skeins are almost double the yardage of a regular...

I use Red Heart Super Saver yarn for lots of my charity projects. Not only is it very economical for us crocheters or knitters on a budget, it is also easy to maintain. It's easy to work with, very inexpensive, and with proper care, it will last a lifetime! (I have a 30-year-old afghan made from Red Heart my grandmother made for me -- it still looks brand new after MUCH use!) While it can be stiff and a little scratchy at times, it comes in a rainbow of colors, and I think its durability makes up for its sometimes unforgiving texture.

I have used Red Heart Super Saver yarn since it first came out. I'm not bragging, but over the years I have knitted 100s of hats, scarves, sweaters and afghans for homeless shelters around the country with it.  It wears well, keeps people warm and looks good.  I have used it to make items for sale at Christmas craft sales and never had a complaint about it making a scratchy garment.  Whenever someone I know is expecting or getting married they always know they'll get a set of items from me and quite often I get a wish list of what they would like. Many of the items I made are now being...

Like any self-respecting crocheter, I have an insane accumulation of yarn!  Have used every type & quality out there.

Red Heart Super Saver is an inexpensive acrylic yarn.  The skeins often dispense in clumps and the plys are prone to separate, especially when using a smaller hook.

That said, Red Heart has its place.  It does work up smoothly and is an excellent medium for beginners.  It is also a reasonable choice when crafting for children who will quickly outgrow, lose, or wear out their mittens, hats or scarves.  I use it for the hats I make & donate to the shelter.

If, however, you...

It had been sometime since I had crochet anything. I found some yarn skeins that were on hand and started out and quickly found the reason that I had put the yarn away and stopped crocheting. The yarn seperates so badly that you have to fight not send the crochet needle through it and have snags and hanging threads all through your work. its almost as though it has never been twisted. It is no joy to crochet any more. It has made it a lot of work. Where is the yarn was twisted so tight that you could't put the needle through, is it a thing of the past?

I love this yarn!

This is the first yarn that i bought when i started knitting 4 years ago.  I don't have any problems at all when it comes to this yarn.  I love how many yards you get for only $2.17 a piece.  Its a great value for acrylic yarn and comes in just about any color you can think of.  I find this yarn perfect when it comes to knitting a sweater that is right next to your skin.  This yarn isnt scratchy at all.  I love how this yarn can be found in most yarn stores. Its machine wash and dryable and you dont have to worry about it felting on you.

This is the yarn that I buy 98%...

I think that every crocheter or knitter starts with this yarn.  You can make a whole blanket with 2 or 3 skeins, which equal less than $10.  It washes easily, and softens up a bit, but can be rough to work with if you have sensitive skin.  It is an acrylic yarn so shouldnt be used for items baby will sleep with/in since it is not fire-resistant like wool is.

This particaular brand of yarn I have found to be not only more cost consciences but also soft and and very comforting to the touch. I have tried a few different types of yarn and have found something wrong with almost every one. Mostly when trying to crochet the yarn falls apart or the strands separate. This brand I had no such problems.

I have always used Red Heart yarns.  They were easy to find, and came in any color I needed.  And the varigated yarns were wonderful!  I knit constantly, and was using only Red Heart.  Lately, tho, I have found that the quality is not as it was.  I am finding alot of breaks and frays in the skeins.

This yarn holds up to many washings, great for afghans and crafts, worsted weight yarn that keeps it shape - no need for blocking.  I love the variety of colors to mix and match, always a great buy whether I hit the local sales or order online.  Soft enough for almost any crochet or knit project.

Can't beat the price or quality of this yarn, plus no dye lot.  Easy to make afghans, sweaters, scarves, and hats for all members of family w/o worry of allergies or how they will wash it. The price is right and can be found just about anywhere. GGGGRRREEEAAATTTT YYYAAARRRNNNN

It is easy to work with, and comes with many different colors.  I like picking different shades of one color and making something.  I like it the most because it don't knot up as much as alot of yarn.
