Red Bull - Energy Drink —

We have all seen the commercials with the guy sprouting wings and being all perky and what not. Well when I was driving to see my girls 2 years ago I was pretty wore out by the time I got 3/4 of the way there. It is about 800 miles from my house to Indiana where my girls live. I was almost to St. Louis when my eyes started closing and I was getting mighty drowsy to say the least.

My Wing Experience

I stopped at a gas n go to fill up and went inside and grabbed me acan of Red Bull, they had a display with them on ice so I knew it would be ice cold. Now everyone knows that a cold drink alone helps perk you up a bit and being it was Red Bull I figured the last 4 hours of my drive would be much better by drinking it. Once I got back in the truck I popped it open and chugged about half of it in less than 30 seconds. The taste was not like anything I had ever had! It was weird and tasted like something stale too me, not gross but just unusual.

It didn't take long to start making my heart race and I was wide awake, so I finished the can and drove on. I will admit it kept me awake and the last 4 hours passed with out any more drowsiness. I was pumped and ready to take on the world with my heart going about twice as fast as I was driving! Needless to say I made the rest of the trip without falling asleep and my heart going like I had run a marathon.

What happened shortly after I got there though was the end all for me ever drinking Red Bull again. Once I sat down and tried to relax from my 12 hour drive I started getting the worst headache I have ever had, very close to being a migraine. With they way my heart was racing I was afraid to take a Loritab so I took to two regular acetaminophen instead and laid down till dinner was ready.

Bottom Line

Although it helped keep me awake on my long trip the after effects of Red Bull and the racing heartbeat was enough to keep me away from it in the future. My headache was very bad and after that I felt worse than I did when I was tired. It was like I had run a marathon of serious magnitude. It took 2 days before I felt like doing anything because my energy was gone. To sum it up it felt like I had a 2 day hangover from Red Bull and I only drank one can of it. Maybe it is just me but Red Bull was a great energy boost but the after effects of it were worse than getting drunk. I will never drink another can of it for the rest of my life, the bad outweighs the good in my opinion!

The gross taste alone is enough to turn me off!
