Good Car Seat but has a few drawbacks...

4

We moved my son into this seat, rear-facing, at 9 months. It was pretty easy to install using the latch system and we got a great tight fit. Our car manual recommends the side seats (not the middle) so that the latch can be used. I am tall so I had to put it behind the passenger seat to allow my seat to go back far enough without pushing on the seat. This seat is REALLY big and HIGH so it created a really bad blind spot. We turned my son forward-facing at 22 months and were glad to be done with the big blind spot. My son has always seemed very comfy in his seat and often falls asleep. I like all the side padding, especially the head wings; my son uses them as pillows. A few things I don't like are that the straps get twisted very easily and that it is a pain to take the cover off if you need to wash it. Overall, I feel like my son is very safe in it and that is all that really matters ;-)

Love this car seat

We bought this car seat as a backup for my husband's car after purchasing a more expensive (very popular) top of the line model from another company/maker. My husband and I both fell in love with it! In fact, we gave the other brand of car seat to my mother-in-law for her car and bought a second one for our main car. It is so easy to install, easy to loosen and tighten the safety belts/straps (we still do this every time our daughters get into and out of the seat), my kids are comfortable, and its safe. One of the things we have really liked about this car seat is the fact that is can be installed rear facing for up for 34 lbs. My oldest daughter was nearly three years old before we have to turn her to the forward facing position. The only drawback to this seat is how difficult it is to loosen the latch straps. You have to get just the right leverage on the car seat to get them to slide through the mechanism that holds them tightly in place. I appreciate that they do not loosen easily, but I also shouldn't have to work so hard to loosen them when trying to reinstall the car seat.

I LOVE my Signo

Ever since I started looking at carseats for my daughter Recaro has always been at the top of my list! It's plush, easy to use and has great safety features. The side impact protection sticks straight out, which provides the safest side impact proctection on the market. My daughter doesn't mind the fact that she leans forward to see to the side, and loves that she can use them as pillows when she falls asleep in the car. The recline is smooth (not jerky like the britax) and the straps are easy to tighten to get a snug fit. Instead of adjust the straps through the back of the seat, there is a knob on the side that you turn and it adjusts the straps up and down. This is so simple and it ensures a perfect fit for your precious cargo. It has a high weight max for extended rearfacing and a decent forward facing maximum as well. The one draw back I have is that it is a bit bigger (we have an SUV), and that the straps get twisted, but all decent carseats with higher limits have the same issues!

The Recaro Signo is a great seat for a younger child

I purchased this seat when my daughter was about 10 months old. She had outgrown the infant bucket seat but still needed to be rearfacing. After reading lots of reviews we decided to get the Signo. This is a great seat for a lot of reasons. Its super safe, with cushioned head wings and high sides. It is very plush and comfortable, with thick padding that is soft to the touch. The material is very stain resistant. The straps were comfortable and did not twist up often. The headrest and straps are very easy to adjust with just a twist of a dial on the side. When sleeping, my daughters head did not flop forward and was well supported. There are a few drawbacks to this seat though. First of all, its huge! It takes up a lot of room and is tall. The high sides can make it hard to get your child into and out of the seat. The cover is not easy to remove if you need to wash it. In hot weather, the thick fabric can make your child kind of sweaty. We do love the high weight limit and the fact that it can be used to keep her in a five point harness for a long time to come.

The Recaro Signo is one of the best car seats you can buy!

For my oldest daughter, I went with the crowd and purchased a Britax marathon.  While I am still happy with the Marathon, I decided to look into other options for my youngest daughter.  My youngest daughter had a severe acid reflux (GERD) and we decided to move her from her infant bucket seat into a convertible car seat at about 1 year of age (6 months sooner than I moved my oldest), to see if it would help with her reflux.  I did a lot of research, and knew that Recaro was a good trusted name (my husband is very into cars, and Recaro makes a lot of the racing seats for high end manufactures such as Porsche), and I loved how the car seats were so plush and padded.  I also loved the smaller "footprint" of the Recaro Signo compared to the Britax Boulevard.  I decided to purchase a Recaro Signo G2 instead of a Como because I wanted the better features and I found a GREAT deal online where I could actually get the Signo for about the same price as the Como.  My daughter did soooo much better from the first instant we put her into this car seat!!  The velvet-like material is super soft and all of the padding makes for a very safe nest-like seat that keeps my daughter comfortable and happy on long car rides.  I was worried about the "wings" making it difficult to get my daughter in and out, but it really has not been much of an issue, although if you have a smaller car, that is something to consider.  This car seat works great for extended rear-facing, it boasts lots of leg room and it is definitely a car seat that will grow with my child.  I love how easy it is to adjust the 5-point harness (just turn a knob! no re-threading the harness!), and it is also very easy to install.  This is a very well-made car seat, it is easy to clean, and very comfortable for my daughter!  While I still like the Britax car seats, I will say that I like this one just as much, if not better than the Marathon!

Best car seat we've purchased!

Purchased this when my daughter was about 8 months old, she is now 13 months & I absolutely LOVE this carseat! I am a mom of 4, and have never come across a carseat as safe and comfortable as this one! It has great safety features (I'm a super paranoid mom), and it is super comfortable, padding everywhere and keeps her head in place when she sleeps in our truck. We have a 2 yr old that we will be purchasing another one of these for! Completely recommend it to everyone. Worth the money and better than Brittax!

The childs comfort is at it's best!

From the time I became pregnant, I knew I wanted to go with a car seat that was both safe and stylish. One of my nieces had this same car seat and she still uses it to this day (and she's 6 years old now), because it's so comfortable. Once my son was born, he used another car seat temporarily and upon his 10th month, we purchased the Recaro car seat. The car seat is a little pricey, but there is no price for safety in my book. It has an adjustable harness and it's very secure so you don't have to worry about your child becoming loose from the car seat (especially if you have a child that isn't too fond of car seats altogether). My son loves his car seat and enjoys his car rides every time.

My grandson loves this seat.  He is forward facing now and loves that he can see very well due to the fact the seat sits rather high.  This isn't a small car seat. It can make it difficult to see around you when backing.  We use this seat in a midsize SUV, we tried it in a smaller vehicle, but it made it difficult for a passenger sitting beside the seat to close the door or fasten their seat belt.  A small person probably wouldn't have that problem. We position this seat in the center of the rear seat. It has large side "wings" which is what provides extreme side impact protection.  It makes it difficult for the child to see towards the sides or out the side windows, but he doesn't seem to mind.  I didn't use this seat when he was rear facing, so I can't say if a child would be content with it or not.  The seat does hold warmth, so your little one won't need a heavy jacket when riding. Your little one can become overheated and sweat.

our favorite carseat

Our family bought the Recaro when the first child was born in 2004, and can say we are very happy with the purchase.  The quality is great.  It is a very robust seat, and can be mounted in a seat very tightly.  You can tell it is high quality and would stand up better than just about any thing else I have seen, especially in a side impact.  The sides of the seat are obvious that would protect the child and this seat would not cave or collapse no matter how bad of an accident I could ever potentially image.  We really do have a pc of mind, and whenever we do not have the seat (i.e. ride in some one elses car, in the back of your mind... you think ' boy i wish we had our recaro to protect our child'.)  Back to the quality, we purchased the all black model and the material looks and feels nice.  It has a nice upper heighth adj ment as the child grows, the seat upper shoulder area can be moved updward, and not like the chincy models i have seen on others for that function.  This seat is a bit more money, but we highly recc the seat because of the quality.  Our five year old can now buckle himself in, but he is not able to un buckle himself, which is a great safety function as well with the seat.  He loves it too, and when ever has to ride with an aunt or uncle says he wants his recaro seat trans ferred over to their car, and not some other seat that is easier to move.  The seat is a bit difficult to transfer from car to car, because it can be made to mount in very tightly.  There are two locking mechanisms that hold it down on the left and right side, and then a hook strap that goes from the back of the seat and swings over the back seat head rest, then hooks into the factory mount in your car, so it is sort of a 3 point hold down system.  And this system really holds the seat down if you choose to mount it very tightly, again, it seems that it would even be more stationary in the event of an accident, then basically the factory seat in our ford focus wagon we drive.  I really do think the recaro seat must be the top of the line in both safety and quality, the cost may be a bit high because of that too, we have had much more well to do friends say 'they cannot afford a recaro' and these are people who were making 4 times our families salary.  they seem to prefer to spend money on tanning salons, nails, etc... we just think it is worth the money, it think we paid btn 4 and 5 hundred for the seat, for the pc of mind.  we may never get in an accident, but our 2 year old will soon be ready for this seat, so it is something that will never have to be replaced because the quality is so good, and i don't think any new designs can sub stantially top the quality for at least 5 to ten years from now, and even so, i don't think the safety features could be any better than this current seat we have.

I Love my Recaro!!

I like the fact that my daughters head doesn't flop down when she falls asleep in the car. This seat supports her head unlike the cheap carseat we got for a backup from costco! We just bought another Recaro for our second child. The safety of this seat makes the cost worth it!
