Recaro Como Convertible Car Seat

So worth it.

Before buying a car seat for our daughter to switch from the infant car seat to a big girl car seat, we read lots of reviews and looked at tons of car seats. From the very beginning I had my heart set on Recaro and when I saw an awesome deal on one - I bought it without a second thought. It's been almost two years since then and I am still extremely pleased about our purchase. The seat is very solid and screams quality as soon as you take it out of the package. The fabric is beautiful and even though we have a lighter colored one, it is easy to maintain and still looks clean. To me a car seat is a good one if I don't have to think about it or fiddle with it all the time - it's there, I pop my kid in, close the snaps and am ready to go. The belt did twist a couple of times but it was no big deal and I haven't had that problem any more. I'd say that my absolute favorite thing about the sea is that the maximum weight is 70 pounds, because I can't see putting my daughter in a (car belt) booster at 40 pounds!

I know this seat will protect my child

It is big, but worth it, I used it first for my son until he turned 2.5 years old, then I used it for my daughter when she was born, she is still using it now and she is 1.5 years old and is 28lbs. Love this seat and when anyone ask me what seat to buy I always tell them this one. Ease of Installation Can be a little hard in a small car to get the sides to click into place

Recaro convertible car seat is worth the price

I really like this car seat. We first got it when my son out grew his infant car seat. It can rear face much longer than other rear facing car seats. Its quite a large car seat but its got great side impact test results as well as front and rear impact test results. It is a more costly seat, but I value safety over cost. When we bought this seat 3 years ago it was one of the very few that was rated for side impacts. Since then, other seats have also been side impact rated, but we still chose to buy another one of these seats (the booster version) when it came time to upgrade our son into the next seat. We chose to do this because Recaro also designs race car seats and deals with the safety of those and we figured if they have the ability to do that kind of safety, we'd want someone with that know how making our child's car seats. Even with other brands coming out with similar seats, I also like to think that bigger is better when coming to safety. This seat is VERY solid much unlike some of my friend's flimsy looking seats. Everyone always comments that it looks like our children are ready to blast off since the seat is so big, but the seat completely hugs our children and makes them safer. This seat will allow parents to rear face their kids longer than a year which is what the AAP is starting to recommend.

The Recaro Como is an amazing safe seat that will last awhile!

As the birth of our fifth child neared I knew I wanted a car seat that I could use from birth through until a backless booster was needed. I compared many different kind of convertible car seats and decided on the Recaro Como. I, too, like other reviewers was surprised at how big the seat was/is. I have a minivan and so it fit ok. It is a bit hard to install rearfacing in our van due to how large it is and how snug I like it to be. I literally try to climb in the seat and when we had it rear facing it was hard to get in and out. Once it's in and snug it's a wonderful seat. Very roomy. I know it says for infants starting at five or six pounds and when we brought our son home he weighed six pounds, eight ounces. He seemed way too small for this huge seat. I never felt like he fit right for the first few months and so wouldn't reccommend it for newborns under ten pounds. However he is three and it still works wonderful. He was even able to rearface until his third birthday just about a month ago. I love that you can do extended rearfacing and use the five point harness for so long as well.

Recaro makes an awesome car seat!

When my daughter turned one, we needed a new car seat for her. We only want the best for our kids and we'd heard wonderful things about Britax, when we got to the baby store, the sales lady said Recaro was the way to go. At the time they were new. She said Recaro makes racing seats for racing cars which impressed me. I loved the look and the safety ratings were the best around. Now we have had it for about three years and moved my son into it. The cushions are so soft and snug that it's perfect for your little snoozer. When your baby gets bigger, you can easily take them out to make room. The straps definitely twist around and don't stay straight, but I don't let it bother me or else I'd go crazy trying to keep it straight all the time. The only draw-back I have with this seat is that I had one heck of a time installing it in our car. Our latches are very hard to get to as it is but the Recaro latches did not help the situation either. So basically, this is not a car seat to be taking in and out all the time, at least if your latches give you as much trouble as mine.

REcaro is a car seat I would recommend!

We just literally received our Recaro car seat.  It looks like the most convertable car seat ever.  We currently are using and recently have used 4 other brands of carseats from graco snugride, to Sunshine Kids Radian, Britax roundabout, Simpson, and I will have to say the Recaro convertable looks like it's the abosolute most convertable.  Our little man seems to love it.  He is currently 14 months.  I perfer to keep my little ones reverse facing for as long as possible, but in my husbands Dodge pick-up truck the back seat does not have much room and it's practically impossible to keep the kiddos rear facing so it is very comforting to see my 14 month old in such a quality, snug, safe looking car seat.  I love that the car seat is so easily adjustable with just the turn of a knob on the side of the car seat.  You can adjust the strap and head side protectors by very easily turning a know. I wish we had more than one of these car seats.

My son loves his seat!

When we moved my son into a bigger carseat this is the one I got. I bought it online without seeing it, and WOW is this thing HUGE!!! We have a tiny car too and this seat reaches the top almost! But it has a high rear facing limit and it was a good price so we make it work ;) My son loves his "big boy" seat and seems to be very content in it. It has a good recline too so he can still fall asleep in it and not have his head drooped over. The only real downside is how huge it is, but we wanted one that will last a very long time and Im sure it will! The colors are great and work good for a boy or a girl, so my daughter will be able to use it if my son outgrows it soon enough, but Im starting to think he won't lol. The straps are easy to get on and off, the clip is easy enough. Easy to loosen up the straps and tighten. Another downside is how hard it is to get the seat in and out of the car, but I think that has a lot to do with how small are car is.

Safe, but big

I've used this as both a rear and front facing seat, and like how sturdy it feels.  The cover machine washes easily, and doesn't get too warm, and the removable padding is nice, too.  It's easy to install, and move from car to car, since the latch buckles open with buttons, rather than using clips like some cheaper seats do.  The seat is very deep, with a lot of material on either side of you child.  Mine is installed in a 2005 Toyota Corolla, but seems to work much better in a side seat than the center, which I dislike.  Rear-facing in the center seat didn't allow me to see out the rear window, and front-facing in the center didn't fit as snuggly as on the side, though I plan to keep trying a center front-facing install.  The seat seemed more padded than some others, which I like. If you have a small car, check the dimensions of this vs your back seat before buying this.  I have to be careful not to bump my son's head on the door when taking him out of the car, and my car is not the smallest model out there.  The inside of the seat might also be too narrow for some older children, but I'd consider this a worthy competitor to Britax.

The comfiest, safest seat in the car!

We LOVE the Recaro Como car seat! I bought one when my son outgrew his infant seat, and he has LOVED riding in it! He used to fuss a lot in the car, and I always figured it was because he didn't like being strapped down and not being held. But I guess he just didn't like the car seat he was in, because as soon as we put him in the Recaro, he relaxed right away and fell asleep within minutes. The seat is so comfy, with padded shoulder straps, pads on either side of the head, and pads around the thighs. It's easy to install in any car. The fabric is very soft, and not cheesy baby-ish. The seat looks good in my car. And the fabric washes VERY well -- no staining, shrinking, or fading. The reason I chose this car seat was because the makers also make racing car seats and safety gear. They know their safety -- which is of course the purpose of having a car seat! This was my #1 concern, so I was looking for the highest safety ratings. I love having the peace of mind that my son is the best protected he can be, and all the rest is just the icing on top! We will be buying another one as soon as my second baby comes!!

I wouldn't recomend anything but Recaro

I have two of the como carseats in my car, one for my 3 year old daughter and one for my 2 year old son and I wouldn't transport them in anything thing else.  I even take them along when we travel by plane.  They are amazing, well built, and super comfy.  My lil ones nevery complain and never have a problem falling asleep in these seats. They are easy to take apart and wash and easy to reassemble, although I have done this many times and no longer have to refer to the manual.  I highly recommend these carseats and plan to upgrade to recaro booster seats just as soon as the lil ones out grow these.
