Most HelpfulMany people may argue that Reality TV is completely and utterly fake. I disagree. While I do agree that shows are somewhat "scripted" and that the people on the show are often coaxed into doing things, I believe in the end the people are ultimately REAL like you and I.
There are many reality shows...

Most HelpfulWhat can one say about reality television, for me not much. Don't get me wrong, there are few reality shows that I love, mainly ones that revolve around real life. Ice Road Truckers is one in particular. This is not a show that I thought I would like, but it is something different and also informative...
review »American Idol--This is a show that has made people rabid. People are actually having nervous breakdowns over whether or not Adam Lambert will win this thing this year. Adam Lambert is a great singer/entertainer, but no matter who wins this year, they will all have careers. Kris, Allison, Danny, and Adam are all brilliant singers/entertainers and they will have no trouble finding record deals. So come on, get a grip on reality people!
So you think you can dance is pure entertainment. The judges provide valuable expert insight unlike those on American Idol. The talent on this show is phenominal. There is a good mix of both professional dancers and new talent. The dances are comprised of a great variety of styles to keep viewers from getting bored. There is a perfect mix of dancing and character development.
All of the reality shows are stressful, stupid and don't show competition in a good light. As a parent I would like for reality TV to show people having a good time and competing in a friendly manner, not crying, cussing at each other and back stabbing. As an adult I get enough violence, crying and cussing in my life, I don't need to have it shown to me repeadly when I get home and am trying to relax.
I have found most reality shows to be pre-scripted to who the producers think would bring in higher ratings. It appears even on american idol, one of the most watched reality shows around, is rigged. I do not completely belive that it is america who really votes who stays and who goes. How would we, the viewing public really know the voting results. I just don't believe the networks, especially when it comes to reality shows, ratings, and money.
Even with the Food Networks next Food Network Star, which I do watch alot of shows on the food network. It appears sometimes that the most...
review »this show is very boring an unoriginal
initially thought it would Jeremy all the way. But when DeAnna was saying how everything about him was perfect, in a sort of negative manner, I started wondering if things aren't as they seem, regarding her feelings for him. They definitely seem the closest physically, but that doesn't necessarily mean she will pick him in the end.
I can't help but wonder if she'll surprise everyone and choose Jesse. But in the preview for next Monday, they showed Jesse turning down the overnight date, saying he'd have to meet her dad first. I wonder how DeAnna sees that;...
I am skeptical of reality television. The trick is to put a spin on the same theme. It's not enough to just survive, then you have to survive and be daring to become the president of a Fortune 500 company.
It's not enough to just have a dating game, then a blonde bombshell gets hooked up with 30 geeky looking guys to determine "do looks really matter". Or worse, a young professional needs to choose someone to marry out of 25 potential "soul mates".
Personally, I like a talent show. "American Idol" is an original and it's worthwhile. A music CD and concert is a great reward in the...
review »Wow, how did we all manage to grow up to be normal adults without "Reality TV"? I was one of those kids who stayed outside from dawn to dusk and wasn't stuck in front of the "boob-tube" (as my father calls it) all day. Now, I'm the only one who controls the remote control and I'm a work-a-holic so I don't have time to watch a lot of TV. My best friend these days? TiVo!!! I never miss an episode of Survivor and have even been known to watch an episode or two of "Celebrity Rehab". But don't tell anyone because I'll never admit it.
That's the thing, the people on these shows all have their own dynamics...
review »I know reality shows are addictive ways to busy-body our way into the lives of others. And maybe Americans are either so hard up for cash or notoriety, that we allow others to peer into our most private lives and judge our most intimate thought and actions; it hard to believe we've come this far into the pursuit of self-injury. Now all that said; I love them all. The crazy self debasing talk shows, the contests, the how-to's (Super Nanny, Trading Spouses). I have even learned some survival skills from Big Brother and Survivor. I know I can at least eat and be warm until the Coast Guard...
