I have been subscribing to Real Simple for about five years, and I have (I hate to admit this, because it's kind of ironic when you consider how I read Real Simple for ideas on how to pare down, organize, and live simply) kept every single issue. The magazine design is beautiful and classy --- have you noticed that magazines like Family Circle and Woman's Day are now copying the types of clean, photographically beautiful covers of Real Simple?
I love the recipes, which for the most part (unlike Martha Stewart Living) do not call for bizarre ingredients or things like eggplant, which my kids would gag at. Also, the articles are about real people with real problems and I can usually identify. And the models are all ages and sizes, although I have to admit that the clothing they model is usually out of range of a modest income like my own, since I'm a stay-at-home mom. Still, for great tips on using common household objects in different ways, ways to pinch pennies, and reviews of products, Real Simple gets my vote every time!
