Real Simple Magazine —

I have subscribed to Real Simple for many years -- since near its beginning, I believe.  This, however, will be my last year.  Over the years, the magazine's content has diminished, and its advertisements have increased.  This is true with most magazines today, which is why I won't be subscribing to anything.

Real Simple always has some beautiful cover art, and I love the paper sculptures that are made and photographed to hilight the magazines various sections.  I also usually enjoy their product reviews (though I often wonder how "independant" they actually are) and some of the tips they offer monthly.  The few bits of usable information I get from them, however, are not enough to justify the cost.  While I like the idea of information and products to help me simplify my life, I am not willing or able to spend the kind of money the items they talk about usually cost.  They will often talk about a mix and match outfit and will show 3 levels of that outfit -- a budget version, a mid-range version, and a "splurge" version.  Often their so-called "budget" versions are way more than I would ever consider spending on an item.

Real Simple, I've been loyal for years, but now we must part.
