A few months ago, I was having trouble urinating. I would get up two and three times overnight to urinate. During the day, there were times when I would feel the need to urinate, not much would come out and then I’d be back in the rest room half an hour later with the same situation. This is typical for men who are over 50, as I am, but it was still cause for concern. The fear, of course, is prostate cancer and I’m pretty attuned to that as my father in law is currently suffering from that illness.
So, I saw my primary care physician for my annual physical and mentioned it as a concern. He conducted the tests, diadnosed an enlarged prostate but no cancer, and prescribed Flomax.
Flomax improved my flow but I was feeling strange. Then one night, I woke up at 3 feeling flushed and very faint and spent a while sitting in the bathroom next to the toilet waiting for the feeling to pass. Mrs. Saxguy told me later that what I experienced was the same thing as one of her hot flashes. Later, I learned it actually was a reaction between a couple of beers I had and Flomax.
So, I looked at herbal remedies. Saw Palmetto as an ingredient showed up all over the internet. The Mayo Clinic web site identified strong scientific evidence supporting Saw Palmetto as an effective treatment for an enlarged prostate. Plus, there was no sign of side effects or toxicity.
I bought this formula from Amazom, The Prostate Formula from Real health Laboratories and Sundown Saw Palmetto 450 tabs. I take a full dose of the Sundown tablets and 2/3rds dose of these dailt.
a full dosage of these provides 200IU vitamin d, 100 IU vitamin e, 50mg vitamin b6, 15mcg zinc, 320 mg saw palmetto, 300mg pygeum bark powder, 100 mg stinging nettle leaf powder, 100 mg pumpkin seed powder, 250 mg L-lysine, 250 mg L-glutamic acid and 250mg glycine.
The dosage is 3 capsules and so the 270 count bottle I bought at Amazon for under $29 should last 3 months.
Since I've used the pills, ny urination during the day had been less frequent and more effective. Many nights, I do not get up at all. On other nights, I don't get up more than once.
So, this has worked better than the prescription med did and I can recommend it. It's on the pricey side, but the combination of this and the other vitamins has worked great.
