Ratatouille —

We rented and watched this as a family the other night and we were all entertained!  I was impressed that even my husband was getting a kick out of it, as he usually isn't all that interested in animated films.  He loved it so much he wants to buy the DVD.

My toddler doesn't get into all kids' movies we sit down to watch, but after it ended she kept saying, "I want more mouse movie!", so now I think we definitely have to purchase it!

***Spoiler***
Remy is a country rat in France who has a highly sensitive sense of smell and taste, so much so that he can determine what ingredients are in any recipe.  His father, the head of the rat colony, wants make Remy "food checker" by making him use his ability to sniff all the rats' food for rat poisoning before they eat.  But, Remy has other dreams, he wants to be a chef!

His dream is realized when he involuntarily winds up in the very kitchen of the world reknowned chef, Gusteau (unfortunately, recently deceased) he admires most.  Of course, no rats allowed in the kitchen of a fancy restaurant.  So he chums up with their newest employee and "garbage boy", who also happens to be Chef Gusteau's illegitimate son, "Linguini".  Remy and Linguini soon figure out that the rat can control the boy's body by pulling strands of his hair, so Remy hides under the young man's chef's hat and helps him whip up some fantasically delicious recipes that bring the restaurant back to its five-star status and make Linguini famous.

There is a lot of action inbetween, and of course, a villain and a love interest for Linguini.  I found the idea that the rat could control the young man by pulling his hair, a bit far off, but hey, this is an animated movie where a rat can cook, so anything is possible!

Good review. We watched this (and we don't have kids). Got a kick out of it.
