The other day my wife received an order of books, from one of the many places she orders things from. This particular order was for my daughter. The books were for her. One of the books is Rainbow Rob by Roger Priddy.
Rainbow Rob is the story of a penguin who is not happy being black and white. One day rob sees a rainbow and wonders what it would be like to be a different color. Through out Rob's adventure of trying different colors, he meets many different animals and tries out many different colors. He eventually meets animals who are black and white, just like him. He eventually settles on his natural colors.
Rainbow Rob is written in rhymes and also is illustrated very well. On the pages where new animals are introduced are touch and feel parts. For example: the red fox's eyebrows are fuzzy and the whale has a textured water spout coming out of it's blow hole.
My daughter, who is just over 10 months old, loves the book. She loves staring at the different drawings of animals. She also loves to touch the textured parts, on the pages that they are on.
My wife and l love the book for several different reasons. The first is that our daughter loves the book. The second reason is that it teaches color. Each animal is a different color. She also gets to learn what different animals look like. Finally, the most important, is the main lesson of the story: Be happy with who you are.
Rainbow Rob is a great book with great things to teach. I feel that it is a perfect addition to any child's library
