After going through at least 5 vacuums in our 6 year marriage I told my husband I would not vacuum again unless he bought me a Rainbow. My mother had one, I reapeat one, while I was growing up. I don't remember her ever needing another. It did everything, rugs, non-carpeted floors, wet, dry, shampooed - everything. Well, of course, he balked when he saw how much they cost. But let me tell you what I told him - you will never need to buy another vacuum ever again. So he found one on e-bay for less than we paid for our latest, non-working vacuum. It had everything my mother's had, and like my husband likes to say, "It sucks! And that's great in a vacuum!" Worth every penny. And for those of you who are worried about heppa filters and allergies, rainbows are so good because they filter through water. So there's never anything that gets back into the air. As soon as it goes in, it's trapped in the water. No stale smell because the bag needs to be cleaned or the cup needs to be emptied. Just empty the water into the toilet after each use. Fabulous!
My mom had one too and still uses it after.....23 years? Yea, there was no doubt in my mind, when the cheaper ones stopped sucking, this is what I wanted too!
