Rainbow E Series Vacuum —

Hind sight is far better than foresight!  If I would have known what I know now, I would have never spent a small fortune on such a piece of junk!  This vaccum mixes  dirt with water.  Herin lies the problem.  The dirt stinks and has some mold spores in in.  If you do not get EVERY speck of water out of the canister when you are done cleaning, you will have one horrible mess when you return to use it again.  When I got this system, I was a working Mom with a very demanding job.  My teenager tried to help but between me, her dad and myself, the resivour did not get dry.  The next time I used the vaccum, it smelled so bad!  I will never fall for a similar product again.  If you take my advice, you will take your $1,000 and go on a vacation.  When you return, buy a cheaper vaccum.  You will find yourself much happier!

I have had two Rainbows. I grew up with a Rainbow in the house, too. When I vacuum, I add about a tablespoon of fabric softener to the water to freshen the air and to cut any odors or suds should I suck up any unexpected product that could make suds in my water. I like the Snuggle lavender/sandalwood in the purple bottle myself. If by chance, you did forget a day to dump your vac, which you shouldn't, this stuff wouldn't smell in a day. The softener masks the odors in a day. You should always dump your take when you vacuum. And no, this vacuum is not for the irresponsible.

obviously you are not rinseing it out after every use... i love my rainbow and would NEVER use anything else now... i just got new carpet and the people who ripped out my old carpet and put the new carpet in could not believe how "clean" the carpet was. they were telling me horror stories about the dirt and filth, stains, etc... that were in the pad and carpet from other jobs. i love it also because my husband has very bad allergys to dust and pet dander, (i have 2 cats) and we leave the rainbow on 2 times a week to filter the air and it works great w/cutting down the dust almost 10 fold. his allergys have been great since we got one and he went from heavy perscription meds to just one zertech (spelling??) a day.

OMG! I liked your feedback on the vacuum cleaner. Would you like to sell your used Rainbow?

I wash mine out in the sink just as if it was another dish, hot soapy water, fill it with fresh clean water, never smells bad, unless I leave it sit for a few days, which does not happen often, as I have a 2 year-old who makes the worst messes!!! Plus, I usually have it running on low to continue cleaning the air.

Never had any problems with mine. I love that I see what I am vacuuming up when I empty the tank. I always set mine in the dish drainer after rinsing so it can dry out!

well i have had many kids and pets and i have had the same one since 1985!! I still use it all the time and love it. We got a cat and that is the only thing that gets rid of the hair. Of course you have to be willing to spend about three or four minutes to rise out the container and either dry it or let it sit out to dry versus all the other dust etc had clogged heppa filters etc. I have another vac for quick clean ups and it is a worse pain!!

It's simple to dump the water, rinse the basin, and dry it with an old rag
