Rachel's Essence Low Fat Vitality Yogurt —

It seems like just the other day, I was rhapsodizing about the 6-oz. Dessert Shooters from Applebee's.  (That's right, the ones which packed more than 300 calories and God knows how much fat, etc.)  Imagine my delight to have found something which may not be quite as scrumptious but is also delicious, consists of six ounces and less calories.  Yes, now you can enjoy Rachel's Essence Low Fat Yogurt and still feel good about yourself in the morning.  Manufactured by White Wave Foods of Broomfield, CO, this lovely dairy dessert was available at Peapod this week for only $1 per 6 oz. cup.  Rachel's Yogurts come in a variety of flavors but I chose Rachel's Essence Yogurt Low Fat Vitality Pomegranate Acai.  (It might not be available at all the supermarkets, my advice would be to do an Internet search for other stores that carry it.)

This yogurt contains 100% Natural ingredients, bears a Kosher symbol, and is made with milk which contains no artificial growth hormones.  Ingredients include:  Grade A Pasteurized Nonfat Milk, evaporated cane juice, pomegranate juice from concentrate, cream, acai, whey protein concentrate, Fructan (NutraFlora, a natural dietary fiber), natural flavors, pectin, agar, DHA alga oil, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D3 and live and active cultures:  L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus, L Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium Lactis, and L. Casei.

STATS:

Each 6 oz. cup is one serving which contains 170 calories with 25 calories from fat.  There are 2.5 grams Total Fat, 1.5 gram Saturated Fat, zero Trans Fat, 10 mg. Cholesterol, 125 mg. Sodium, 29 grams Total Carbs, 2 grams Dietary Fiber, 27 grams Sugars and 8 grams Protein along with 10% (D.V.) Vitamin A, 8% Vitamin C, 25% Calcium and 2% Iron.

MY VIEWPOINT:

Rachel's Essence Yogurt Low Fat Vitality Pomegranate Acai tastes a bit more like real yogurt than Yoplait but I enjoyed it just as much (and I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to yogurts).  The tart flavor of the pomegranate concentrate and acai work perfectly for yogurt.  This stuff is supposed to be "blissfully blended" and "mood inspiring."  Judging from the way I reacted a scant half hour later when paper jammed going through my printer, I'm not so convinced about the mood-inspiring part but of one thing I can be sure ... unlike the Applebee's Shooters, Rachel's Yogurts in all their glorious forms are something a person could enjoy every day as treat which can also be part of a healthy diet!

We may laugh at that -- probably, even as we write, someone at the Marketing Department is thinking the same thing!

Gosh, Anna. Think I need to hit the hay. I thought your topic was Virility Yogurt!

I also got another flavor called Honey & Lavender! Gonna try that tomorrow! I'm doing only the one review though without the flavor specified in the title so that other people can go in and use my picture, etc., to do reviews of their own and perhaps their flavor selection might be different than mine. It looks like a lot of nice flavors.

Oh yah, although I got off my favorite scathing remark: THE DUMPSTER IS LOOMING VERY LARGE IN YOUR FUTURE, BUSTER! My poor printer, after all it's done for me!

This yogurt sounds a lot better than some of the ones I tried. I hope your printer survived the "blissful" moment ;+)

I used to eat these when I worked at Whole Foods Market. I would buy one and then take my break. I love their unique flavor combinations and the fact that they contain DHA.
