RIU Palace Riviera Maya All Inclusive - Playa del Carmen, Review Summary

Leisure travelers loved the RIU Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen and think that you will too. One reviewer refers to the RIU Palace Riviera Maya as the “Best hotel I’ve ever been to.” What’s so great about it? Almost all of our reviewers loved the location; after all, it’s Playa del Carmen. The amenities were a hit with our reviewers, who noted that “the minibar was stocked each day” and that “you are provided all the bottled water you want.” That’s a good thing; nobody wants a nasty case of Montezuma’s Revenge. Reviewers also say that you can expect spotless rooms. As far as negatives go, some reviewers felt that the food was so-so “the dinner was good, but after a while it was the same food over and over.” Also, the RIU Palace a family resort so be aware that there may be lots of children depending on the time of year.

My husband and I stayed at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya this past June-July. We had a pleasant experience. But for the money of the hotel, which is all inclusive, it was good. We had never stayed at an all inclusive hotel before and wanted to try the Riu. I chose the Palace Riviera Maya since it was... read full review »

THE RIU PALACE WAS BEAUTIFUL BUILDING AND HOTEL BUT I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE COMMUNICATION OF THE STAFF. WHEN WE WERE CHECKED IN THE STAFF FOR ONE DID NOT INFORM US TO NOT USE ANY OF THE WATER. IT IS IN CACUN/PLAYA DEL CARMEN RESORT AND I DO KNOW THAT EVERY HOTEL/PALCE THAT I HAVE STAYED IN BEFORE... read full review »

There is nothing better than All-Inclusive and I do mean ALL-inclusive. The staff were so attentive to your wants and needs. Our room was spotless every day. The minibar was stocked each day. The food was excellent. You do have to make reservations for the specialty dinner restaurants but you have several to choose from. If reservations are not of interest you can dine at the buffet. You are provided all the bottle water you want. We even used it for brushing our teeth. We were told in advance by our travel agent to not drink any of the water.
The beach is beautiful! The architecture of this...

My wife and I visited the Riu Palace on our honeymoon.  The service was great and the staff was very friendly.  The bartender at the lobby bar, Islas, was an absolute riot.  The view of the ocean was outstanding.  Great blue water.  They had a nice variety of restraunts and the food was great.  We are already planning to go back.  They could have a little better evening entertainment.

The best hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff was so nice and helpful. Great for families of all ages. They have a great kids program for children while parents lounge by the pool. The rooms were great and the pools were great. I loved it so much I recommeded it to my in-laws and they loved it. I would go back in a heartbeat!

The RIU Palace Riviera Maya was overall a good hotel. The staff was friendly. The rooms were spacious. The grounds were beautiful. The beach was big and well kept. I can't speak for the other activities as we only tried the parasailing while we were there, but the parasailing was fun and very reasonably priced! I have a few complaints, which were: 1. Nice if you have a family. But if you're just looking to get away with a friend or a honeymoon...beware of all the kids!!!! Granted, I went during summer vacation so there were probably more of them than ususal but it was getting very aggrivating.... read full review »

The RIU Palace Riveria Maya was a beautiful resort. The staff takes very good care of you and always have a nice smile. The food was incredible. My wife and I are really into fitnss and eating healthy and there were many options to choose from. The japenese restuarant had the best salmon ever. I highly recommened this restuarant to all vistors. I do have a few recommendations: Improve the fitness center. The equipment is too outdated for today's day and age. With so many people having a fitness focus today, I expected a little more. The gym was pretty packed every day I was there... read full review »

The RIU Palace Rivera Maya was a wonderful place to stay. All of the hotel staff were friendly and concerned about their guests. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The rooms were large. The room included a small frig that contained bottled water, a variety of soda, Corona beer and four different bottles of alcohol. At one point I had to call maintanence to fix the safe in my room. The maintanence man was at my room within minutes of my call to the desk. I felt very safe at the hotel and knew that anything I kept in the room safe was secure. I grounds were well kept and very... read full review »

Our stay at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya was beyond what we had hoped. The hotel is only a year old and is gorgeous. The lobby area is richly appointed and the bar is spacious and comfortable. The guest rooms are nicely furnished and cleaned quite nicely every day. A mini bar in the room is stocked daily with water, soda and beer and one can also use the liquor dispensers in the room as well. Our courtyard-view room opened to the beautiful grounds below and one can also see the ocean. The TV included some English-speaking stations so we could keep in touch with news in the U.S. The many restaurants... read full review »

RUI Palace Riviera Maya all inlcusive was just that--all inclusive. While we are non-drinkers, we still enjoyed having any non-alcoholic beverage available at all times. The main buffet dining room was beautiful with tables set with linens, cloth napkins and nice glassware for all meals. We were so happy with the variety and quality of the buffet food, we didn't take time to sampe the gourmet restaraunt offerings! The grounds were meticulously maintained with staff constantly clipping, shaping, cleaning and clearing debris while remaining in the background. Being early risers we often... read full review »

We were greeted at the door upon arrival and were in our room in a few minutes. My wife remarked "this is the nicest place we have stayed in". The lobby, the room, the landscaping was all beautiful. At dinner time we were equally impressed. The variety of food seemed endless. Even by taking the very smallest portions it was impossible to sample everything. So it was a matter of selecting by appearance and perceived taste. It was that way at every meal. The service was superb. Though you filled your plate buffet style, the waiters and waitresses brought beverages and dishes were... read full review »

This was my third time in Playa del Carmen, Mex. and every time I have gone there it has been to Riu All Inclusive Hotel. Last two times I went to Riu Tequila and Riu Playacar, which are very nice and clean hotels. But this last time I went to Riu Palace Riviera Maya...this is another kind of experience. Riu Palace is a huge hotel, very nice to be with family, friends, honeymooners, etc. It has great interior gardens, great buffets, any kind of drink you are looking for. It also has 5 speciality restaurants, easy to make a reservations and they have great taste. If I had to mention a critical... read full review »

Our vacation at the Riu was more than we expected. We had a courtyard view that was also an oceanfront view. The layout of the Palace is wonderful, you can see the beautiful blue water from all areas. There was six restaurants that you could reserve for dinner and there was 2 restaurants that was available most all day for eating. The food selection was unbelievable(food for every nationality). The staff at Riu was very helpful and friendly. The swimming pool was amazing with different areas to swim in (we enjoyed the swim up bar, too.) Our room was very big with a separate sitting area and a tv... read full review »

RIU Palace Riviera Maya was a perfect choice for a honeymoon. It appeared that all of the RIU resorts in Playacar (A hotel district in Playa del Carmen) were very nice. The Palace Riviera Maya was the newest (opened February 2006) and nicest. The staff was very friendly. One thing to keep in mind is that the formal dinners require long pants and short or long sleeves for men. Women are pretty much open on the dress code. You have to make reservations for the dinners and you can make them up to two days in advance. All of the restaurants were very good...Sir Oliver was the best. I would... read full review »
