The Quarter Dome packs up at around four pounds. That is crazy light in my book. And you don't have to sacrifice quality to get it. This tent is well made, and all the detail are handled well. Two of those details that I really like are the rain-fly and the zippers. The rain fly has color coded corners to help you get it on right with a minimum of hassle. (If you look at some of my tents, you'll see magic marker notations.) The rain-fly can also be rolled up some after installation, for the view, and adjust back down quickly if circumstances require. The zipper pulls have a reflective coating on them that makes them easier to see in the dark. I'm pretty good at finding them blind, but it's nice not to have to do it.

One of the weight saving features is that it only uses two poles. This makes for a really fast set up. As John Madden might say,"You got your one pole, and you put it in, and there's another, so you do that one, to. Then BOOM! You're done." It also makes for tent walls that come in kind of fast, but something has been done (either to the poles or the tent shape) that alleviates this some by making the curve variable.

My favorite feature is that there are two doors. Each camper can get in on their own side without disturbing the other. Which brings us to the not so great.

The second weight saving feature is size. The floor is 85"x52", making this a two person tent, not a 2-3. That's 26" each, folks, so if you are going to share this tent with someone, I would advise having prior tent sharing experience together. If they roll over a lot, or have the restless leg, you are going to take some bruises.

The Quarter Dome is quite a nice tent within it's, quite reasonable, limitations. If you are looking for a light two-man tent, and don't mind being a little tight, this is probably your tent.
