Bottom-Line: If you want soft, durable toilet paper, you can't go wrong with Quilted Northern Soft & Strong Toilet Paper, Double Mega Rolls, I just help you can find a place to store them.

Let's face it, toilet paper is not the most interesting or appealing of subject matters, but it is a product we all have to avail ourselves of, no matter the brand. It seems like I have tried all of the major brands of toilet paper; Scott Paper is by far the worse, and the hardest on the bottom, while I believe Kleenex Cottonelle is the best. But, Quilted Northern Soft & Strong Toilet Paper comes in a strong second.

I recent picked up a 9-pack of Quilted Northern Soft & Strong Toilet Paper, Double Mega Roll with 9 Mega rolls, after Super Target mailed me a $1.00 off coupon. These mega rolls are big-almost too big; they just fit into the toilet roll caddie we have on the top of our tank in the master bathroom. They are this big because they are2-plys of softness, which feels good next to the skin, even after repeated usage.

We always get the double rolls, because well, they tend to last longer than the average roll of toilet paper and in the end they are a lot more cost effective for us. And finally, we insist on unscented because we don't want a lot of scented oils, and or, other ingredients next to our skin.

One more plus: Quilted Northern Soft & Strong Toilet Paper unrolls easily. While other brands can pull apart as in your hand (read: Angel Soft) one sheet at a time-very annoying-Quilted Northern stays together sheet after sheet.

Quilted Northern Soft & Strong Toilet Paper, Double Mega Roll comes in a variety of packaging options including 4, 6, 9, and 12 rolls-I chose the 9 roll. And the 9-roll lasted as long as a 12-roll of Cottonelle.

The price-point for Quilted Northern is usually $.50 - $1.00 lower than Cottonelle, checking in at $6.99 for a regular 12 count double roll, but Super Target doesn't always have them in stock. Not too soft, nor too hard, Quilted Northern Soft & Strong Toilet Paper is just about right, time after time.

Quilted Northern, relying on the long term customer base they established and that has the expectation of continuity, has now changed/cheapened their product. If you have old rolls compared to the newer packages the first noticeable changes are in size. To me, the major difference is the reduced width from 11.43 CM to 10.16 CM (1/2 inch in width). I personally noticed very quickly the difference when switching from an old roll to the new smaller/cheaper rolls. The rolls also were reduced from 300 sheets per roll to 286. Keep in mind that the smaller width means more sheets are required to obtain the same effect the older and larger sheets provided, but then they also decreased the sheet count so even though the price per package remains relatively the same (it is up at my store), you will now need to purchase replacement packages more often so we, the consumer, are getting cheated with added cost to us. Not obviously by a price increase, but covertly, by reducing and cheapening their product.
I wrote to the company to express my displeasure and that I felt cheated by a company I had relied on, and trusted for their consistency. This is one paragraph of their response.
