QuikTrip Rewards Debit MasterCard —

I'll add another footnote to the top - bass ackwards...I know.  I've only used this card a handful of times.  Yet my checking account has been credited $1.29.  It's not much...but hey, every little bit counts.  The more you use the card, the more "cash back" is put into your checking account.  I'll take every penny I can get.

I'm doing this backwards...  I'm adding a footnote at the top.  So far, so good.  I used my QuikTrip Rewards Debit MasterCard as a MasterCard the other day for a pizza.  Today I used it at QuikTrip to buy gas & get cash back.  I paid inside for $10 worth of gas & got $10 cash back; total purchase - $20.  At the pump, the price was reduced from $1.49 a gallon to $1.44 a gallon.  Five cents off per gallon during the first 90 days and 2 cents off per gallon after that.  I raised my review from 3 stars to four.  The rest of the original review follows below...

I'm giving 3 stars for now, but withholding final judgment for a while.  QuikTrip (see separate review) used to have it's own debit card good for gas & goodies inside the store.  During the first 90 days, you'ld get 5 cents off per gallon.  After that, 2 cents off per gallon.  The debit card was/is linked to your checking account.

Now QuikTrip has teamed up with HSBC to bring out the QuikTrip Rewards Debit MasterCard.  This card works the same at all QuikTrips, but now has the MasterCard logo and can be used anywhere MasterCard and/or debit cards are accepted.  The therory being, the more you use it, the more rewards you get.  Here's a "copy & paste" from the web page...

The Basics:

  • This is not a credit card - it's a new debit card that gives you cash back rewards
  • Keep your bank and your current checking account and link them to this card
  • Use this debit card everywhere Debit MasterCard cards are accepted worldwide; for signature, PIN, or ATM transactions
  • Track your card transactions on your bank statement or on-line at http://www.qt-rewards.com

The Benefits:

  • Save 5¢ off each gallon of gas at QT for the first 90 days and 2¢ off each gallon afterwords
  • Earn up to 4 points for every dollar spent on all your other non-fuel purchases made outside of QT*
  • $5 will be added right onto your card every time you reach 3,500 points -- no waiting for a check, gift card or coupon
  • Spend these cash rewards anywhere and anyway you like - you can even transfer them right into your checking account
  • Be the only QT customers to get special benefits such as cash back at the register with any QT purchase (Avoid the ATM fee)
  • Be entered in MasterCard sweepstakes -- win tickets to NASCAR, Major League Baseball & more with each signature transaction
  • Get special discounts and offers when using your card at places like: priceline.com, National Car Rental, 1-800 flowers, JC Penney, Omaha Steaks and many more!

From what I've heard & read, I wouldn't buy meat from Omaha Steaks, or use 1-800 flowers.  But I do occasionally go to JC Penney.  As stated before...the jury is still out on this one.  I'll update it if I find anything good or bad.  Sorry about the small photo.  It's the only one I could find on the Internet.  You didn't expect me to scan my own card...did you?

This IS NOT a credit card. It's a debit card with the MasterCard logo, much like one your bank would issue with a checking account. The money comes directly out of your checking account.

Great review but I don't own any credit cards. I went crazy with them in college and vowed if I ever got them paid off I wouldn't get another. I cut up all the plastic and haven't had one in about 10 years. My parents used to think I was using a credit card but my "plastic" is actually my debit card--backed by money in my checking account ;+) ~Gigi
