Quickfinder Safety Nail Clipper For Small Size Dogs —

Quick View: These clippers are dangerous and painful and should be avoided. Your dog will thank you for NOT buying these.

About Quickfinder Safety Nail Clipper For Small Size Dogs

Before I was a writer extraordinaire, I was a veterinarian's assistant for a while. As such, I clipped the family dogs' nails for yearrrrrrrrs after I left that occupation. When I moved out, I clipped my own dog's nails as well as my family's dogs' and still do. But I know the pain and angst it can cause when you clip a dog's quick. They will howl in pain and never trust you again. I used to use nail clippers I bought from the vet I worked for but they got dull and I needed new ones. I invested in the Quickfinder Safety Nail Clipper For Small Size Dogs because I thought they would actually do what they said and help me to gain back the trust of my dog who hates when I clip his nails ever since I clipped back too far and hurt him (unintentionally). Well, let me tell you, these things are junk and they WILL hurt your dog!

The idea behind them is that, as you get near the quick (The blood source and the area that feels pain) on a dog's nails, a light goes on so you don't clip the nails back too far. The red light will shine when you are at the quick and the yellow one will tell you that you are too close. When the green light goes on, it's supposed to be safe to clip away. I tried these on my dog and the lights made no sense. It would be green way back and yellow at the tip. It would turn red and then green in the same spot. Finally, I just did what I always did and tried to clip a very small part of the nail off. The clippers were not sharp and they did a terrible job. Mickey's nails were all scraggly and shredded. He let me do two before he nearly leapt out of my lap and ran away from home. I tried one more time but the lights were screwy again and the clippers were dull. One nail was enough to know that these things are hype and dangerous.

My Viewpoint

If you don't know how to clip your dog's nails, please let a vet or someone qualified do it. It can really hurt a dog if you clip too far back and he or she will lose trust in you if you hurt him or her. If you know how to clip a dog's nails, do NOT buy the Quickfinder Safety Nail Clipper For Small Size Dogs. For ANY sized dog. I bought small because my dg is tiny but they sell medium and large sizes too. I have asked a few vets I know and they all told me to steer clear of these clippers. These were $30.00 worth of grief. Don't make the same mistake I did. 1 star.

Please write a review! It's good to have many opinions so people can read several experiences and make an informed buying choice. I worked for a vet for a year and I clipped countless animals' nails. This just didn't cut it for me but I'm very glad it works for you and your pet!

I have one of these and if you follow the instructions they work great. You have to activate the clipper before you insert the nail or it will not read correct. this is a great product!

Thanks so much for saving me from from myself. I have been thinking about buying a dog nail clipper and have been looking on line, your advice has been very helpful.

I'm glad that their are people like you to let others know about products like that. In my humble opinion, the expert is the best route to go specially for the dark nails.

My dog hates when I clip his nails. He has dark nails too. Every time I open the drawer that has the nail clippers you see him quiety slip away. Now I just have the vet do it so I don't traumitize the poor guy.
