Queen Helene Refreshing Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub —

Quick View: This scrub is OK but nothing special. It isn't all natural as the name implies. It has natural ground walnut shells for scrubbing but also has a lot of artificial ingredients as well. This is a decent scrub for oily and normal skin types but it may make dry skin even drier like it did mine.

About Queen Helene Refreshing Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub

The old packaging is green and omits the word "refreshing". The new tubes are white but contain the same ingredients. Both are selling at drugstores and online. This scrub comes in a six ounce tube and is very inexpensive at $2.99 or less. The scrub really doesn't smell minty fresh. It kind of smells like slightly minty dirt. It isn't as bad as it sounds though. It's a natural smell that neither is too strong or off putting.

The scrub comes out looking like clay colored glop. The walnut shells are very finely ground in a base of muddy "stuff". It looks a lot like a facial mask as opposed to a scrub. One the face, it does have exfoliating properties and does deep clean. It doesn't later at all. This is a straight up scrub. You should use your own face wash before or after using this scrub.

The scrubbing action is fairly tame. I like a good scrubbing to turn over new skin cells and clean deep down. This scrub is a lightweight when it comes to the scrubbing particles.

Rinsing off is easy but my face feels tight and dry after and even looks tight. I immediately have to use a good moisturizer to offset the dryness. I have used all kinds of scrubs and I am not impressed with this one. Neither am I turned off by it. It does scrub, it does exfoliate some, and it does have natural walnut shells rather sugar or salt but really doesn't matter to me. I tend to go for salt scrubs anyway.

The scent is ehhh, not bad. The price is really low. If you have oily or normal skin and want an inexpensive scrub, Queen Helene Refreshing Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub may be for you. I will use the tube I have but won't repurchase. I like LUSH Ocean Salt and Philosophy The Greatest Love much better. Then again, we're talking about a fairly big jump in price. But I'm worth it. ;)

My Viewpoint

Queen Helene Refreshing Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub is an inexpensive, decent facial scrub. It's not great and not horrible. It's worth the low cost and may be just what you want in a facial scrub. I give it 3 stars. I do recommend it though because there's nothing wrong with it. It's just...uneventful.

Good review but I'll pass on this one.

I've never had much luck with facial scrubs even though I have oily skin. They always seem to cause breakouts, so I'll probably pass on this one. I might try the mask, though. Anything that helps shrink pores is worth a look. :)

Well, this isn't bad by any means but I want to glow when I use a scrub and I didn't when I used this one.

Very good review. I like a deep down scrub too, so I probably wouldn't like it either. Thanks for the info!!

I love mint too. Philosophy makes a great line of mint products that really refreshes and relaxes at the same time. This doesn't have enough mint scent for me. It smells muddy.

I have the mud mask here. I bought four different products because they were buy one get one free. I will try it tomorrow. I heard it was good.

Good to know!

You must try their mud mask! it's wonderful and really shrinks the pores and if you have a blemish, a little dab will do ya before bed and dries that puppy right up. Didn't know they had a scrub...Thanks for the heads up!

You can send it my way, I love mint -- I actually have a rosemary mint shower gel, and my conditioner has mint too. It is supposed to help you relax or relieve stress.

Uneventful is no fun!
