Quartino is a great spot for a casual lunch with a bunch of friends.

While I'm recommending this restaurant, I would be somewhat hesitant to go back (just given the extensive number of dining choices in Chicago).

Plenty of better Italian options in Chicago.

I live in Chicago and know there's a lot of Italian options for dining. If we weren't so lucky I'd have givent it 3 stars instead of 2.

The food is adequate - which is where my 2 stars come from. The ambiance is crowded and kitchy. The tables can be 4" apart and there's bread, canned olive oil, and other silly crap everywhere. Service can be fair - but the servers are typically running headless trying to deal with the crushing and packed crowds.

If you haven't been, don't go. Do yourself a favor and try something like Francesca's on Taylor in Chicago's Little Italy.

Quartino's is literally my wife and I's most frequented restaurant in Chicago, of course it doesn't hurt that we live across the street.  We love this place because first, the food is fantastic.  Portions are smaller (but are priced appropriately) and there is no traditional coursing, the food's brought out when its ready.  People are encouraged to share their dishes (plenty of sharing plates are left on the table).  While the portions are smaller, you can still probably eat yourself pretty full with 2-3 dishes for two people.  Though we've been pretty happy with everything that we've ordered,... review »
