All of my adult life I have been plagued by those nasty cold sores and fever blisters.  Sometimes I get more than one at the same time, and I know from experience that they are more prevalent when I am stressed out. Well, I am stressed out!  Last week I learned my dog had cancer, took a big pay cut with my job, and my daughter ended up in the hospital.  Yup, I am stressed, so I wasn't not at all surprised when that familiar tingling sensation on my lips started to rear its ugly head.  Ugh, not just one, but two cold sores were trying to surface. I really wanted to get these under control, I am hopping on an airplane to help my daughter in just a few days, and I didn't want to go on a trip with a huge ugly fat lip.  I quickly grabbed my tube of Super Lysine Cold Sore Treatment.  A friend of mine who also suffers from cold sores told me that Lysine works well as a natural remedy, and that is the reason I purchased this .25 ounce tube.  The active ingredient is L-lysine, followed by vitamins A, D & E (In a natural baes of olive oil), yellow beeswax, goldenseal extract, propolis extract, calendula flower Extract, echinacea extract, cajaput,tea tree oil, gum benzoin tincture, honey, and Llthium carbonate. I am an advocate for all natural personal care products.  What we put on our skin ends up in our bodies, our skin is the bodies largest organ.  I was extremely impressed with the ingredients contained in this tube of Super Lysine Cold Sore Treatment.  I know that tea tree oil, all by itself, works great, but it tastes awful. This is an ointment, with the feel of petroleum jelly, yet there is no petroleum in the ingredients, they use beeswax instead.  Good for them, I love to see that.  The claims that are made by this product are pretty impressive.  It is supposed to reduce healing time by 50% or more, give immediate relief, moisturize the lips, and give fast relief of tingling, blistering, itching and pain. This is a very greasy ointment, and glides on easily.  I do feel it is a very moisturizing product, but I am disappointed in how well it worked for me, or should I say failed to work.  This seemed to make my cold sore even worse, it did not dry it up at all.  When I use pure tea tree oil on my lips at the first signs of tingling, it works wonders, because it helps dry out the sores.  The Lysine ointment seemed to do just the opposite. I have read great reviews of this product, so clearly it works well for some customers, but it did not work for me.
