I'm always in search of a tasty breakfast that is quick and easy to prepare, but will also increase my daily fiber intake. I've heard over and over again how good oatmeal is for the heart and for dieting, but the taste of regular oatmeal is so plain that I defeat the purpose by adding sugar, syrup, butter...

I have high cholesterol. Everyone knows oatmeal is supposed to be good for that, so I decided to get some oatmeal. The doctor didn't say anything about my weight, so I was looking at all the oatmeals. I picked the Weight Control instant oatmeal, because the flavor sounded good - banana bread. Yum. I...

I really enjoy eating this oatmeal for breakfast!  The banana flavor is my favorite!  I have to admit that I frequently add 'a little something' to my oatmeal, so the flavor is not exactly as it would be straight from the package.  I like my oatmeal really creamy, so I usually add a little fat free half 'n' half (Land O' Lakes brand) or Fat Free/ Sugar Free International Delight French Vanilla coffee creamer... and some mornings if I'm in the mood for something sweeter, I add a packet of artificial sweetener.  I don't know if "Weight Control" is exactly an accurate name for this product, but... review »

So I'm always trying to watch what I eat and stay fit and healthy for my kids. I try to set a good example for them by doing myself, what I tell them to do. Well, my kids love cereal, and oatmeal is a big staple in our pantry. They love oatmeal on their own accord, I've never pushed it on them, they just asked for it once and have loved it since. But I thought I should probably eat it too. It's suppose to be good in lowering cholesterol, low in sugar etc and it would show my kids that I do eat right. I've never, EVER liked hot cereal though. It always used to make me gag when I was a kid, so...

I had a box of Quaker Oats Maple Brown Sugar weight control in my cupboard, and thought I would eat that on a Sunday as oppose to cereal.

Let me just say that the foul odor of this cereal has not left our household for 2 days now, and I scrubbed the microwave clean, and threw a few oranges and lemons in our garbage disposal after dumping this toxic waste down the sink

The smell is very powerful, and then becomes rancid, and almost smells like a bad batch of very strong and odorous spices.

I would not recommend this cereal, and I am an oatmeal lover.

The taste is very strong, and has that "artificial"...

I've been eating oatmeal (or porridge, as I call it) my whole life for breakfast.  I'd much rather start of the day with a hot meal than a cold one, and so do my children.

Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal is delicious, all five of my family love it, there's no discernible taste from the original, except that it's low in sugar and high in fiber.  If I have a bowl in the morning, I don't feel the urge to snack mid-morning.

It lends itself well to being mixed with fruit, such as chopped up bannanas, or blueberries, more importantly, my three sons love it too.  I do make it with lowfat milk rather...

This oatmeal seems good on the package. It looks healthy, appropriate for those who want to control their weight... but the taste is awful. I picked a Quaker favorite (Brown Sugar) when I first tried this and even that couldn't ward off the look of "eww" that passed over my face when I took a first bite. I tried a second, because my mother always told me to take two bites of EVERYTHING before I decided if I liked it or not. The second bite was no better. Thankfully, the aftertaste only lasted til I guzzled a glass of OJ to wash it away. Needless to say, this was NOT my favorite oatmeal.

I purchased the Banana Bread flavor and could not get past the smell to even eat it.  Several co-workers commented on how bad it smelled.

I was a little skeptical about trying Quaker Oatmeal Weight Control because most weight control products are either not that much healthier than the regular product, or lose out on taste. But this oatmeal was pleasantly surprising.  It comes in three delicious flavors of banana bread, cinnamon, and maple and brown sugar and all of them taste just as great as the normal Quaker oatmeal.  I love that they are so easy to make, just about a minute in the microwave and you have a warm healthy breakfast.  The aroma of the banana bread was my favorite, because it smelled just like you had been baking... review »

I love oatmeal. Always have, always will. My mom used to cook those old fashioned oats for us before school We'd throw on the brown sugar, pour on the milk... wonderful! Then when I was in about 5th grade, this microwavable oatmeal was introduced in the market. It took some getting used to, but I got it down to where I could make it perfectly! Now, my kids won't eat it unless I make it- Grandma doesn't do it right, you see! Still, it has a high sugar content and although it takes great, it's something that concerns me.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the weight control oatmeal. "How bad could it...

So, I was walking up and down the cereal isle trying to find a healthy, affordable, yet weight-friendly breakfast, and I found this brand on sale. I noticed the regular retail price  wasn't that bad even if the product was not on sale. I added it to the cart and brought it home. I tried it for breakfast the next morning and loved it. It has a slight sweetness that is not overbaring. As a few mornings went by and I saw more packs missing from the box than I had used, I questioned my husband about my "puzzle". He said he had tried a pack and "actually liked it". My husband is a picky guy and has hang-ups... review »

I first saw quaker oat weight control oatmeal, couple weeks ago while I was shopping I liked the idea with having extra fiber and protein to keep you full. Which it does! I stayed full off this this packet of oatmeal for up to 5 hours. Anyway I first tried the Banana bread oatmeal and it was great, it even smelled like banana bread taking it out of the microwave.

Next I tried the cinnamon flavor, I actually like this flavor at much as the banana bread because I like cinnamon flavor things.

Then I tried the Maple and brown sugar, I thought this one tasted pretty good too, it was sweeter then the...

I'm a big fan of this oatmeal. I was very...cautious...shall we say? about how Weight Control Oatmeal could possibly taste good. But I was pleasantly surprised. I had to buy the Banana Bread flavor first because that was all that was at the store at the time, but more recently, much to my delight, Maple and Brown Sugar is also available. My problem with weight gain has always been portion control, so I am thrilled to know that one pouch (which can be reasonably filling at times) is only 160 calories. Bottom line: they taste good, they're quick, and they have good nutritional value...go for it!!!... review »

There have been a lot of healthy options offered by packaged food manufacturers, but most offer a simple, easy to understand statement such as "low-fat, low-sugar or "no-trans fats." This, however, is a much more studied, intelligent offering. It's high in protein and fiber (both of which make you feel full), and its low in sugar. It has more calories than their regular flavored instant, but that's not the point. If it makes you feel full, you'll eat less later. That's the point. Kudos to Quaker for recognizing that consumers are intelligent.
