So I'm always trying to watch what I eat and stay fit and healthy for my kids. I try to set a good example for them by doing myself, what I tell them to do. Well, my kids love cereal, and oatmeal is a big staple in our pantry. They love oatmeal on their own accord, I've never pushed it on them, they just asked for it once and have loved it since. But I thought I should probably eat it too. It's suppose to be good in lowering cholesterol, low in sugar etc and it would show my kids that I do eat right. I've never, EVER liked hot cereal though. It always used to make me gag when I was a kid, so I just don't eat it. But shopping one time and picking up my kids' favorite oatmeal flavor, I noticed the Weight Control and decided to try it. The banana nut flavor futhered my interest, as who can resist a yummy banana nut bread?, so got it home and the next morning I made myself a bowl. OMG...it was the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth (and there's alot of things I find gross to eat!). It reminded me of trying to swallow cardboard, the banana nut flavor I was so excited about, tasted nothing like banana nut, it was more like banana puke. Since my kids were eating their own oatmeal, I had to choke it down as best as I could, because I didn't want them to see me throw it away and waste "good food", but all I wanted to do was heeve it up. As soon as the boys were done and excused from the table, I quickly washed what was left in my bowl down the disposal, brushed my teeth, gargled with mouth wash and I still had that awful taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. That box of oatmeal sat in our cupboard for about 3 months...I finally threw it out and told the boys "bugs" had gotten into it and it had to be tossed.

My kids still love oatmeal/cereal, but I stick to good old cold cereal if I want a bowl with my kids. They've asked a couple times why I don't eat oatmeal anymore and I've just told them the truth...I don't like it, I never have, I never will and they're ok with it.

Yep. I am so with you. This is really gross. I only tried the banana flavor - very bad. I am OK with plain oatmeal. Not my fav. But OK. This is so yucky. I am throwing out the rest even if people are starving. This is just too bad to eat.
